A top Russian general has 'vanished' amid claims he had advance knowledge of the weekend armed revolt which threatened Vladimir Putin's regime.
One theory is that General Sergei 'Armageddon' Surovikin is under interrogation over a plot to oust defence minister Sergei Shoigu amid a hunt to purge the enemies within.
Surovikin, 56, is the second-in-command of the Russian armed forces. He has known links to 'coup leader' Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Wagner mercenary army chief.
US officials briefed on American intelligence said a top Russian general had advance knowledge of Prigozhin's plans to rebel against Shoigu and chief of the armed forces General Valery Gerasimov over failings in the war against Ukraine, The New York Times reports.
The suspicion is that this general is Surovikin, a commander known for his brutality and who has historically been described as one of the more 'Wagner-friendly' Russian military leaders.

RuZZian trolls are quiet today.
I guess waiting for marching orders.
Should they denounce the General as a traitor or defend him?
Surovikin was a Putinist hero.
I don’t trust any words out of Russia no more than I do the democrats they deal from the same deck.
Imagine bringing in every 1-star and above and having some kind of FSB/KGB interrogation. The whole war would fall apart in 30 days as trust issues develop.
They will say it’s just more maskirovka and additional evidence of Putin’s strategic brilliance. Vlad should go on television and penetrate himself with a cucumber. Then the West will think he’s really lost his marbles and his ingenious 4D chess plot to make everyone think Russia is a shit show run by half-baked, corrupt thugs acting on their own agendas can continue it’s clockwork march to ultimate victory.
Let the purge begin. Hopefully Putin does a very thorough job and eliminates any generals that might have a shred of competence :D

Update on the conflict in Ukraine for June 25, 2023: - Ukraine’s offensive enters its 4th week with the line of contact relatively unchanged and having suffered immense losses;
- Western governments and commentators have been increasingly calling for more “wonder weapons” and even Western military intervention as prospects dim for Ukraine;
- The Wagner mutiny in Rostov, southern Russia was an ill-conceived gamble by Wagner’s figurehead Yevgeny Prigozhin;
- The crisis resolved itself within 24 hours with Prigozhin’s exile to Belarus and Wagner forces being fully integrated into the Russian military;
- Ukraine’s offensive potential persists, however, amid a war of attrition, territorial gains at the cost of men and machines brings Ukraine closer to defeat, not victory;
Better than the russian winter offensive.
Ben Wallace noted that during the summer counteroffensive Ukrainian armed forces have already recaptured approx. 300 km2 of lands. "That's more territory than russia seized in its whole winter offensive"
I agree I don’t trust either of them. I don’t trust any of the bilge that comes out of Ukraine either.
Agree
As I have been saying, coups in Russia come within the deep state in the Kremlin and do not succeed without it.
What Kherson doink?
He coordinated Wagner operations in Syria, so he and Prigozhin were chummy to begin with.
“When the Russian elite can’t escape the war ends.”
Putin’s cleptocracy/mobocracy has made all the elites paticipants in the fusion of the Russian deep state and the mafioso style of Russian high level corruption. There is no “escape”, and can only be internal struggles that changes the leadership.
Daily Mail is always good for a laugh!
you trolls will post anything..
Bakhmud is still liberated!
damn good shovels
