Elections have consequences bur neither state legislatures nor the US Congress can enact laws that are unconstitutional.

Do you think Barrett is taking such liberal stands because she is a closeted liberal or is fearful of her safety when going against the left?

Gorsuch is not fully reliable either. Trump should stop talking and congratulating himself about his high court picks.

I actually do like that notion...the issue is that there are letters that don’t start as many last names as others do. Also there are last names that are very predominate compared to other last names. Many Smiths, Browns, whites, and blacks and robinsons, for example. Lots of Patels, Gonzalezes, Hos,li’s,ect.

More good decisions from our ‘conservative’ judges

And when the legislature makes a loosey goosey law it invites the courts to explain it. Maybe the “legislatures” should spend more time on their haphazard written laws just tossed in the books to say “hey look at me we did something”

“When the state legislature passed the Congressional districting map which the governor even signed as part of a compromise, the Democrat state supreme court again threw out the map and drew their own because............let’s see if you can guess what the legal justification was.........”

And two of the three Justices on the Supreme Court Trump put there supported the NC state supreme court’s decision.

When did this become official? AFAIK it has NOT happened (yet) and at this rate it's becoming questionable as to whether it ever will.

the state supreme court threw out the previous state supreme court's decisions. The two remaining Democrat judges on the state supreme court had a hissy fit about it.

It is easier for me to get a passport than a Florida ID card.

Its pretty easy to get a state ID here. Also, the voter ID law accepts a pretty wide variety of ID. It can be an ID card for a public worker, a state driver's license, a student registration card, a military ID, a passport, etc. Pretty much any government issued photo ID.

Here's pollutico whining about it.

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/28/north-carolina-supreme-court-clears-way-for-partisan-gerrymandering-00094433

The North Carolina Supreme Court has overturned its own past ruling that said partisan gerrymandering is illegal, clearing the way for Republicans there to redraw the state’s congressional lines in a way that heavily favors the GOP.

The ruling clears the way for North Carolina legislators to aggressively gerrymander the congressional map, which is currently represented by seven Democrats and seven Republicans. Now Republicans in Raleigh could re-create the map they initially passed last cycle which a Democratic-controlled state Supreme Court struck down, netting as many as four seats.

The court issued a 5-2 decision, with the court’s Republican justices voting to overturn the past ruling and the two Democratic justices dissenting. The court flipped from 4-3 Democratic control to 5-2 Republican control during elections last November.

Such yummy yummy tears. That's right A-holes. You stole 4 seats in the House with this BS. Well guess what. We're taking them back and there's NOTHING you can do about it.

~~~~~~~
The state legislatures in question did not make the rulings in question. What makes you think that judges can do a better job of creating laws?
We are a republic, a representative democracy. We’re supposed to be ruled by the laws which our elected representatives create, and not by people. Obviously the Constitution intended for state legislatures to apportion congressional districts and to determine dates, rules and times for federal elections.
The Constitution means what it says it means. If you don’t like what the Constitution says, then the Constitution provides for a method to change it.
The Supreme Court is the final arbiter of what the Constitution means. Instead, this Supreme Court just elected themselves as the ultimate legislative body.
Thugs in black robes.
Despite the traditional screeching Dems scratching the wooden doors when Kavanaugh tried to testify for his confirmation hearing and the slandering of him as a sex fiend and Barrett as a mentally ill Christian kook, they also had to prove they would really not be unacceptable far right conservatives who loved the Constitution. Or get “Borked.”
They got past the process and convinced the Dems to accept them grudgingly.
Then they show they really aren’t conservatives.
What a lousy system we have.
Article I, Section 4, Clause 1:
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.
She isn’t dashed/hyphenated. She uses her maiden as her middle name, and spells it out. My mom does that. She was proud of her family.
And then there is I, who didn’t change my name at all.
Thanks.
I recall the NC Supremes’ ruling which permitted legislative redistricting to proceed and re-established the voter ID requirement (and all the liberal anguish about those topics). That happened 2 months ago.
But I don’t recall hearing that the NC legislature has actually implemented the original plan it passed — or ANY plan which replaces the Democrat-gerrymandered districts which were illegally mandated by the previous court. I don’t believe they’ve done anything yet.
There’s still time, but not as much as may be thought.
As it stands now the filing deadline for 2024 is December of this year — less than 6 months away.
Furthermore, the Rats will try to tie up in court ANY plan the Republican legislature passes, trying to force the current districts to be used again in 2024 by either getting a compliant (corrupt) liberal judge to interfere or by simply delaying things until it’s too late to change the map.
Give the same situation (except the parties are reversed) in Wisconsin, naturally the Republicans will also challenge/delay/etc.... yeah, right. They’ll just bend over and take it, like GOPe squishes enjoy doing. OTOH Democrats in NC will fight until they run out of bought-and-paid-for judges who will try to override the will of the people and the state constitution.
Garbage decision, but firstly because it was moot, moot, moot. The Court should never have reached the merits. Shame on Roberts, Kav, and Barrett. (One cannot shame the leftist troika.)
