I would believe “foreign actors” encouraged the rebellion with offers of massive cash support and assurances russian military would also come on board. When it didn’t happen the poor guy realized he was on his own against the Russian government and thought to get out while he could.

I don’t believe that. I believe the Wagner commanders refused to follow him in the revolt, and Russian soldiers didn’t desert and join in, and when the populace didn’t stage an uprising in support he realized he had made a big-time mistake and was open for a deal.
Remember Wagner has operations in many countries, not just Russia.
Who knows? Maybe the CIA is involved? I only say that because Biden is on record saying the US had no involvement in any of this.
And when Biden denies of confirms most anything. Just the opposite turns out to be the truth.
