I grew up eating Macomb County politics.

Home of the famous Reagan Democrats.

It is those people, more their offspring that remain as moderates.
There is a thin line between an Independent and Moderate. AKA swing voters.

Michigan does not require you to register with a party. Many states don’t, many states do.

Whoever our nominee is, they need those “Swing” voters.

Michigan, Ohio, Penn., Georgia do have suburbs. They go from large cities to suburban areas then rural, geographically.

The definition of a suburban mom varies.
Many have college degrees.
Usually they work full time and still take care of their children and home life. They are younger than most here.

They are a huge voting block that require consideration and courting.

Texas does not require that you register with a party either. More people out here have at least a bachelors degree than do not-lots of veterans and retired military who are now small business owners-mechanic shops, hardware, feed stores etc-the main source of income here is tourism, with ranchers/farmers 2nd-This is a different world than one a suburban mom of any age would be much interested in, I suppose. a bright red area, like much of rural and small-town Texas and the South-many of the major cities have always been blue islands with a few exceptions-even some rural areas right on the border have been flipping to red for a few years now...

“Summer people” with cabins on the river and day tripper tourists spend money here-the nearest major city is nearly 50 miles away-but the biggest spenders are the snowbirds from Northern states and Canada who either lease a cabin or park an RV here for the Winter-I have a friend in Idaho who spends the Winter here-even though it does freeze-and snow, Winter is not as cold or long as in Idaho. The antique and junk shops and farm-to-table organic local food restaurants are mostly owned by women-but not suburban types-they are from here.
