There is no denying that Donald Trump still holds the most sway over the Republican base. He is a former president, he is still (in their eyes) being persecuted unfairly by the Democrats and the Biden administration, and he is certainly an attention-grabber.
But there is a major difference between dominating a primary and winning a general election, and the most recent polling seems to show that, for all his support among Republicans, Trump is still not yet favored over Joe Biden in a “Devil You Know vs. Another Devil You Know” election fight.
On Sunday, NBC News released its latest poll on the 2024 election, and the numbers are fairly consistent with what we’ve seen – that Trump is a dominant force in the GOP, but the American public at large is still very hesitant where the former president is concerned. This is the same poll, mind you, that shows nearly three-quarters of Americans think the country is on the wrong track. So if Trump is still struggling to overcome that, well… things aren’t great.

Morning Consult is a consist tracking poll, it is not a 1 off, it is a tracking poll.
I’ll take it over random 1 time poll funded by group X anyday.
I’ve actually commissioned polling in the past... No poll is perfect, but if you want honest trends you have to be consistent, and Morning Consult is very reliable for Trending, and the trending is consistent, Desantis is a non starter.
Trump represents the best of the GOP Culture of losing.
He will lose to Biden ...again.

Many things are happening now and will continue to happen in coming months that will culminate with the military likely stepping in and administering the election. Otherwise say hello to President Newsom or whoever they replace Joey with.
Based on what’s being ginned up by the fake news and Biden’s handlers I predict they take us or at least make it look like we are on the brink of nuclear war before Christmas. It won’t be real but it will seem real. Somehow Trump will come forward as the peace maker. He keeps saying he can end the Ukrainian war in one day.
Trump always has a reason for everything he does and says. Just like he keeps saying we need one day voting with paper ballots and voter ID. I have the funniest feeling we are going to be voting on paper ballots with voter ID and same day voting. 😏
Who can run the Ballot Harvesting Operation in a competent way is what matters.
It is a tracking poll, but it still is done by one company. So if they are making errors or if there is a bias in their methodology, it will consistently be there. Averaging the results from a number of companies has the effect of reducing the effect of bias or error from any one company on the aggregate result.
They are not ignored, but are averaged with other polls to get a broader view of the race than just one or two polls.
But Biden will not be on the ballot in 2024—I don’t know if he—or Trump will still be live.
