Our (mostly) two-party system leads us to think there’s one dimension to the political spectrum, and individuals, groups within parties, and parties themselves are arrayed from the center out to the extremes in two directions (left and right). In European parliamentary systems with proportional representation, you often find smaller parties “off” the left-right spectrum. Accordingly, I provide taglines, such as “center-right,” for the Greek parties.
I notice it seems there are factions from 12-15 different parties in some extreme left to extreme right and a kitchen sink tossed in representation. ππ
