DeSantis reduced abortion in Florida from nearly unlimited to 15 weeks in his first term.
DeSantis then reduced it to 6 weeks in his second term.
That is progress toward the goal of eliminating abortion.
DeSantis, as POTUS, says nothing about abortion. It is a state issue, not a federal issue.
Trump, on the other hand, is making abortion a federal issue again by promising to negotiate a nationwide abortion limit everyone can agree with.
I’ll take the guy who is not anxious to force states that have restricted or eliminated abortion from having to abide by a minimum federal limit.
Now, there’s progress. You’ve finally started to address the subject like an adult instead of with ‘gotcha’ language. Now as far as your points about DeSantis - yes, he made progress towards eliminating abortion (at least in his state). So did Trump. And objectively speaking, the repeal of Roe v Wade (which wouldn’t have happened without Trump) has done more to eliminate abortion than anything DeSantis has done. In fact, the legislation you tout would not have been possible without it.
If you want to argue that DeSantis is MORE anti-abortion than Trump, that’s fine. He may very well be, although we need to hear more from DeSantis on if there are any circumstances under which he would allow abortion and what those circumstances might be. But if, as you claim, he wants to leave it to the states, his impact on “eliminating abortions” will remain limited to what he has done in Florida.
I actually suspect DeSantis WOULD support a federal ban on late-term and “post-term” abortions as Trumps does, if he were asked about it. Would you criticize him if he did?
