O.K., I support a leftist - a leftist who got Roe v Wade overturned. A leftist who supports a federal ban on late term abortion and post-term “abortion”. As far as “negotiating a nationwide abortion limit that everyone could agree with”, where do you get the idea that any such deal, unlikely as it is, would prohibit states from passing their own, stricter limits?

BTW, while gun rights vs gun control and pro-abortion vs anti-abortion are usually framed in terms of left and right, the term “leftist” has a different meaning, referring to someone who believes in and supports a centrally administered collectivism. So even if Trump leaned left on these issues (which I dispute), that wouldn’t make him a leftist.

He has stated that the practices in NJ etc where the baby is born & the doctor & mother decide if it should live are anathema. Trump is talking about forging a limit above which no state can legalize abortions. The lower limit is for states to decide.
