What’s this lurch to the left you speak of?

Criticizing governors like DeSantis for opening their states too early.
Attacking DeSantis's abortion law as being too harsh.
Supporting Disney.

To name just a few.

“Criticizing governors like DeSantis for opening their states too early.”

For the most part, Trump pushed governors to re-open sooner rather than later. There was an instance with Georgia, where he criticized Kemp for re-opening nail salons as soon as he did, but for the most part, Trump’s criticisms usually went the other way (i.e. criticizing states for remaining in lockdown too long.)

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/28/politics/donald-trump-ron-desantis-florida/index.html

From the article:

Trump has encouraged governors to be aggressive in their reopening plans, telling state leaders in a conference call on Monday to “seriously consider” reopening schools if it’s safe.

Some governors have been less willing to loosen restrictions on businesses and gatherings as testing continues to lag and outbreaks persist.

DeSantis, visiting a hospital in Tampa on Monday, said the return to normal would be “methodical, slow and data driven.”

“Supporting Disney”

This is one of the lamest talking points from Trump’s critics and is usually an indication that they’ve run out of ideas. “Supporting Disney” is sufficiently vague to be almost meaningless. The implication is that Trump supported Disney’s protestations of Florida’s “Don’t say gay” bill that was passed by DeSantis. That’s simply untrue. Trump spoke out against DeSantis’s protracted feud with Disney as being poorly thought out and counter-productive. He never expressed support for Disney’s activism on the legislation in question.

“Attacking DeSantis’s abortion law as being too harsh.’

Trump’s position on abortion has changed little since he took office. People are certainly free to disagree with his comments on the Florida abortion law, but his comments don’t represent a “lurch left’ on Trump’s part. Trump has his personal beliefs on abortion (allowing it in cases of rape, incest, or life of the mother and banning late term or “post term” abortions). Beyond that his position has been to let the people decide, not the courts. In that regards he has been successful by chosing SCOTUS justices who were willing to repeal Roe v Wade.

His abortion policy has been and remains less about imposing his exact criteria on the country and more about enabling the decision to be made by the states and the people generally without having the rules already swayed in favor of pro-abortionists. His criticism of the Florida law was more a belief by him that it was bad politics, not any sort of desire or committment on his part, to personally fight the legislation simply because he personally views it as too harsh.
