As more reports come in, this doesn’t seem like a rash decision by Prigozhin. There is a lot of planning behind this.

He waited for the Ukraine offensive to reach a point where the Russian army would be tied up at the front.

Then he moved in behind them seizing the army’s support and logistics.

Is his goal to set-up a situation where the bulk of the Russian Army is trapped between Wagner and the Ukrainians? Those forces then have to either join him or face destruction.

Prig made his move on a Friday night when all rational Russians get stinking drunk. Now on Saturday they have to come to their govt. jobs hung over, sick, miserable, and very tired and discouraged.

Oh, and at 6 am EST I read that Prigozhin is at the last road bridge entering the Moscow area. Once he gets across that bridge, there is nothing much but hung over Russians to stop his advance. It also appears that many in government positions are refusing to or avoiding acting in any way to upset Wagner forces. Some are even joining Prigs forces.
