Putin Is Now Very Worried About Crimea
Newsweek ^ | 6/21/23 | ELLIE COOK

Russia is funneling "significant" resources into protecting its control of the annexed Crimean peninsula as Ukraine's counteroffensive makes further gains, according to the U.K. government.

Russia is putting "significant effort" into building defensive lines in rear areas in southern Ukraine, the British Defense Ministry said on Wednesday. Moscow is focusing on areas on the way to the Crimean peninsula, the U.K. government added.

Moscow's military command likely believes Kyiv's fighters are "capable of directly assaulting Crimea," the government department said in a daily intelligence update posted to social media.

If Ukraine captures Crimea, I think Putin is going to nuke Ukraine.

Ukraine is not even capable of defending it’s own territory. It certainly does not have a chance in hell of capturing any Russian territory. How many more Ukrainians must die before they start negotiating?

A cautious strategist might shore up defenses in anticipation of possible offensives as much as someone who is “very worried”.

It’s more likely Russia will cause an “accident” at the Ukrainian nuclear power plant they have stolen. Then Putin’s useful fools will tell us Ukraine nuked themselves and, anyway, they deserve it because of Nuland’s cookies. Or something like that.

Daily Mail: If we had ham, we could have ham and eggs. That is, if we had some eggs.

If we (meaning America) pulled the plug on this insanity, Ukraine would be begging for negotiations within 24 hours.

This insane policy of ours might well be the most completely immoral policy I've seen by our government in my lifetime. It's going to accomplish absolutely nothing except get a lot people killed for absolutely no good reason.

They lie more than Ukraine does.

Amazing how Russia keeps blowing up stuff it has built, operates and controls - Nordstream Pipeline, ZNPP plant, Kakhovkha Dam. What an incredible military strategy!

Pretty much all of them except Zelensky and his closest employees. As long as the money is flowing, Zelensky does not have to capitulate, at least to the Russians. He has already capitulated to the Biden administration. The administration is sending weapons and money knowing full well that the conflict is not one that Ukraine will win. As long as the conflict continues, the evidence of bribery and corruption will remain hidden. When the conflict ends I suspect that most of Kiev will be a smoldering wasteland.

Its more likely you'll have an 'accident' in your adult diaper than Russia sabotaging their own Soviet built nuclear reactor.

Sure. Ukraine can't get to the first line of Russian defense despite losing 10,000 men in the failed counteroffensive.

The only fear the Russians have is if terrorist attacks targeting civilians. But, they will ultimately solve that problem by creating a buffer zone around Russian Federation territory, meaning Ukraine will shrink even further.

We're almost there, we can win this, we must continue with financial support until the end. It can be a success, just like Afghanistan. Hang in there.

They don’t have to take Crimea only isolate it. Cutting the land bridge and road/rail bridges to the south would leave only a ferry as supply route. This morning someone blew up part of the railway in Crimea
