“ The Pentagon expects them to perform like the US III Armored Corps.
The ragtag Ukrainian conscripts don’t want to die against a solid and lethal wall of defense.…”

I follow the tactical situation on a daily basis by reading/viewing information from a variety (i.e., pro-Ukrainian, pro-Russian and “objective/neutral) of sources. One thing I’ve noticed since the beginning of this current Ukrainian counteroffensive is an increasing practice of Ukrainian troops leaving their armored vehicles to evacuate to positions on cover/concealment. This includes the crew members of the armored vehicles. The resulting stationary vehicles left in the open make them much easier targets. The resulting destruction of the vehicles but with crews remaining alive could only serve to reinforce this behavior and cause it to spread.
I’m not sure what the Ukrainians will do to counteract this.
If by armored vehicle you mean Bradley’s and APCs, their usual purpose is to get troops to the FEBA where they dismount and seek out fighting positions on the ground. Yes the empty vehicles are then potential targets for destruction, but they have served their purpose.
