Nah. Taking a break from being senselessly slaughtered. Nuland has not given them permission to surrender yet.

ISW: Ukrainian forces may be temporarily pausing counteroffensive operations to reevaluate tactics

by Olena Goncharova June 19, 2023 6:51 AM

The Institute for the Study of War quoted the head of the Estonian Defense Forces Intelligence Center Colonel Margo Grosberg who said on June 16 that "we won't see an offensive (operation by Ukraine) over the next seven days.”

The Wall Street Journal similarly reported on June 17 that Ukrainian forces “have mostly paused their advances in recent days” as Ukrainian command reexamines tactics.

These reports are consistent with ISW’s recent observations of the scale and approach of localized Ukrainian counterattacks in southern and eastern Ukraine.

TRUMP: “I want everybody to stop dying. They’re dying. Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. And I’ll have that done in 24 hours I’ll have it done. You need the power of the presidency to do it.”

This whole thing as reported in the west reminds me of the movie I watched yesterday: Downfall. “General such-and-such will attack the russians and we will defeat them.” “Sir, general such-and-such’s army is wiped out.”

With due respect to this Indian general but Russia fight with NATO a proxy war. If there were only ukies it would be all over now. But with NATO Russia will need to fight little more.

All depends on when ukies will lose all their cannon fodder. Maybe 1 more year or so. Who knows?

I understand the sentiment but it is not so easy at this time. Ukraine cannot even enter into discussions with Russia unless the USA grants approval. Russia is not going to settle for less than demilitarization of Ukraine. Anything less than that and in a few years they will be fighting the same war for the third time. The signing of Minsk I and II under false pretenses pretty much ensures there will not be a Minsk III. This will end with Ukraine looking like the South at the end of the Civil War.

The offensive has been like Ukraine's Gettysburg. I would expect Russia is going to take Odesa before this is done. If that is accomplished, it would essentially leave Ukraine as a failed state, unable to support itself. June 2, 2023, "Blinken says no Russia-Ukraine peace possible until Kyiv can defend itself and Putin pulls his troops out." Until Blinken/Nuland come to grips with reality, Ukraine is screwed. If Russia takes or demands Odesa, Ukraine is just screwed. This conflict was taken so far that it has made an off-ramp difficult to find.

The video offers an outstanding distillation of what has occurred and why, and what we may expect to occur. If you do not care to click on the link and watch it, just don’t watch it. I make the full link visible so anyone interested knows in advance that it goes to Youtube.

I do not think Ukraine can last until 2025, so it is probably meaningless.

I see no threat of force that would deter Russia. However, Ukraine can easily be influenced. Trump could announce a quick date upon which all aid to Ukraine would cease and advise Ukraine to get to the negotiating table as soon as possible. Ukraine would have to seek whatever charitable conditions they could get from Russia. Like Robert E. Lee, they would know its time to quit. Trump could certainly bargain with Putin for better concessions than Biden/Blinken/Nuland. Were Trump to offer to ensure that Ukraine would not rearm during his presidency, Putin might believe Trump. The current regime is such a bunch of lying thieves, nothing they say has credibility. It makes no difference what they offer if they can't be trusted or believed.

Kind of like Pickett’s Charge. At the end Pickett is told to take care of his division and states, “General, I have no division.”

The Ukes need to put a stop to this, depose Mr. Z. and make a deal with Putin. Time for Ukraine to toss out the CIA advisors and chuck the NATO bid. They may get a better deal with Russia/China BRICKS+. In this revolution Keiv will look like Kabul or Saigon.

I agree - I don’t think they can push this mess to 2025, as much as I know they’d love to. $$$

But I’m signaling that I very much agree with Trump that this meat grinder atrocity needs to stop. Those are people with families and people who love them whom they love back. Zele, Bidenobama, Putin, Soros, etc. just see them as fodder to keep the cash flow going, some of it probably to Democrat Congress re-election campaigns, none of it going to anything good.

Your point is well taken but I see serious resistance from the U.S. and Ukraine establishment. Having Ukraine escape U.S. control might lead to no end of disclosures of U.S. corruption. Washington seems hell bent on escalating rather than resolving. The problem with just supplying equipment is Ukraine may run out of Ukrainians.

If the Ukrainians can throw out their current government, and normalize relations with Russia, the Russian soldiers might wind up providing security for the new government. There is an interesting concept.

Perhaps not just money. If a pro-Russian, anti-American government were to be installed in Ukraine, imagine the documentation of American corruption that could be revealed.

It does need stopping but getting that done faces difficulties. Wars happen when the military must clean up a mess made by the politicians. This one is a doozy. If NATO allows Ukraine to just settle, what is the future of NATO and the wonder weapons? Humanitarian concerns come secondary. The common people are generally good and just want to live their lives. They deserve better.
