President Joe Biden poured cold water on Ukraine's hopes of expedited membership into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) amid Russia's invasion on Saturday.
On Saturday, the president addressed the possibility of speeding up the process to allow Ukraine to join the alliance ahead of his 2024 campaign rally in Philadelphia.
A reporter asked Biden about previous reports claiming that he supported waiving the requirement for Ukraine to obtain a Membership Action Plan (MAP) to join NATO. According to the MAP, candidates must make military and democratic reforms before being considered to join. However, this could be a lengthy process for Kyiv amid what its government views as a more urgent need to join the alliance.
However, Biden disputed that he would consider easing the process for Ukraine.
"No," he said. "They've got to meet the same standards. So I'm not going to make it easier."

dopey joe’s conundrum is that he’s not only compromised by the yooks, he’s compromised by virtue of his handlers from obama and the clintons being compromised by the russians. Considering how many times that the West has flat-out LIED to Russia, I really doubt Putin believes the above for a moment, as it’s clearly designed to say “Don’t worry about Ukraine after the war, we’re not going to militarize them”.
The idea here is to get Russia to end their liberation of Ukraine prematurely, and then, of course, to immediately have Ukraine enter NATO.
Unofficially, Ukraine is a member of NATO.
So, official or unofficially, Ukraine is being defended as it it was already in NATO.
Once the war is over, Ukraine will be admitted in. Russia’s invasion will have backfired, big time.
Ironic, since Biden himself is a “MAP” of another sort.
First they have to pay him his 10% then they can become members os NATO.

The rules are that you can’t be involved in an active war to join NATO.
US doesn’t want to send troops before an election. Not because they care about troops in body bags but because it would not please the electorate because we have no business being in Ukraine except to enrich the deep staters.
No it isn’t. Ukraine is not being defended as it would be in NATO.
If it was, Zelensky would quit pushing it.
It is considered paltry because NATO troops in numbers are not on the ground. It is not paltry in terms of money we are dishing out. It has also been a big boost for corrupt Uke and Western politicians.
Western countries have unloaded their dinosaur weaponry off in Ukraine in exchange for newer stuff from the MIL Industry in the US.
Some people are getting rich while others in the west get nothing and Ukraine citizens get to do the dying.
Of course he does, there's still graft money for the Biden Crime family to collect from Ukes and launder through Ukraine, and the tiny bit of Proxy cover supplied by Ukraine for the US Deep Swamp's proxy war on Russia.
Like a good Prog Marxist, Biden will use up Ukraine for everything he can milk out of 'em and then throw 'em away. It'll look like the Biden "Withdrawal" from Afghanistan, Ukies chasing behind American transport aircraft as they take off.
No I won’t. It is not the same and YOU know it. If this is the best NATO can do then it should be dissolved. I like that idea.
So far, Ukraine isn’t getting the full meal deal because they are not NATO members and they won’t be because the west doesn’t want to fight Russia face to face.
While NATO countries were fiddling around homoing up their militaries, other countries were arming and preparing.
