I suspect almost everyone used Google at some point between 2006 and 2013. So, fifty cents each? The attorneys will rack up the fees in this case and will receive millions while the plaintiffs and members of the class-action will receive a few pennies. That's the way these cases are always structured in settlement.

Individuals who submit an approved claim stand to receive approximately $7.70, based on the available data from the involved parties.

The final payout amount will be determined by the number of valid claims submitted.

If we had “loser pays” (court and legal costs of winners) in tort cases, the winning attorneys fees would be paid by the loser, and all the “settlement” would go to the individuals on the winning side of the suit.

Even then in this case, given the “class” is millions of individuals, the payout to the individuals would be very little each.

Grab yer 50 cents and give Google your personal info again...

$23 million is nothing for a huge list of users they can sell, and maybe even get sued again.

What makes a valid claim? If you used a computer back then that you no longer have, how can you show that you used Google?

It seems to me a valid claim would simply be an assertion that you used Google without any proof.

Indeed it’s what class action cases are all about.

I received 12 cents from a Farmers insurance case.

Select 23 people at random and give them a million each from the settlement. At least someone will get a useful amount of money.

48 million is bus fare to Google. It should have been 10 Billion to get their attention.

“People who used Google search between 2006 and 2013 could be eligible for a portion of a $23 million settlement in a class action lawsuit against the Big Tech giant.”

that’s gonna work out to about a nickle a person ...
