Russia is no more our historic enemy than Ukraine is. They are both former Soviets States, both constituent founding members of the USSR.
I strongly support Russia, who is not “our historic enemy” (I presume by “our” you are referring to the United States of America, if you are an alien, I apologize).
Wilson’s promotion of small nations prolonged one devastating war and engendered many others. As far as America is concerned, the Monroe Doctrine and the Mexican War created conditions of peace and safety for almost two centuries, and I would be remiss to deny similar spheres of influence to other great powers.

Historic enemy? They were a solid friend until the communist era… and they shucked off that burden over 30 years ago and went back to being friendly. But DC and morons refused to shift gears…. so simpletons and grifter out to make money declare them our “historic enemy”.

So being realistic means one is a 'supporter of Russia'? Zelensky is desperate and making decisions that are destroying Ukrainian assets with little gain, and not likely to expel the Russians. America has already funded this pointless war having contributed 71% of all foreign aid given to the Ukraine. That's because Biden has 'skin in the game' re Burisma, biowarefarelabs, the theft of the 2020 elections, funding of the DNC, Schumer's 'son', Pelosi's 'son' etc.
I think supporters of Russia would want the 100+ billions in aid to flow to Russia. I don't want ANY money going to the Ukraine - I want that money to build a wall to keep out military aged foreign nationals flooding our borders.
Our country is falling apart, going broke, and descending into totalitarianism and neocon idiots worry about a Slavic civil war 5000 mile away overseas. Neocons are the lowest form of life on this fair planet.

It’s not about taking sides. But I can truly say Zelensky would have our boys over their fighting his battle in mass and never blink an eye over their death any more than he does the people of his country.
