It appears the war in Ukraine has settled into a 21st Century WW I style of trench warfare.
Electronic surveillance, precision artillery and guided missiles have gotten so sophisticated that both sides are afraid of coming up and out of the trenches to advance forward.
The frontlines in Ukraine are apparently several miles apart and whenever Ukraine starts to advance forward in armored columns the Russians know immediately because of all the drones and other sensors they have and let loose with precision artillery and rockets and devastate the advance. The same goes for Russia when they attempt to advance, we provide Ukraine with real time intelligence, and they do have enough artillery in reserve to devastate any advance.
Just like WW I until someone develops new tactics or new weapons systems, neither side is likely to advance much past their current positions, except Russia has figured this out and isn’t trying to advance and Ukraine being urged on by Western Politicians is attempting to advance and getting it’s ass kicked.
