Access is different than classified material control. If the powers want to give them access that is the the prerogative of the authorizing individual.
If they’re no longer in a position that requires them to maintain classified documents they shouldn’t have them, when they walk out that door the documents stay behind. The individual does not own the documents the individual only requires a documents as long as the position is held where the documents would be a requirement to have. But if they’re not in that position why are they still hanging on to this stuff? It is a breach or a threat to National Security especially if it’s compromised. Reduced the threat of compromise by maintaining strict control of classified documents.
Ex-presidents don’t need to have boxes upon boxes of classified documents at their residences or offices or any other sites if they’re no longer in the position that requires it. Ex-presidents don’t require it, ex generals don’t require it, former SES or GS bureaucrats don’t require it. Why do they have it? The Classified Matetial Control system needs an overhaul. The military doesn’t really have a problem with it they have strict control and they maintain it well sometimes it burps but it’s not anything like the civil service and its blatant diaregard and mismanagement.
Thanks...I didn't know that. But one then has to ask why Trump's lawyers didn't challenge the invasion because the warrant was unconstitutional. This indictment never should have happened based on the fact that the warrant used to conduct the search was illegal to begin with.
Without producing the document it’s hard to know. It’s interesting one of the documents charged over apparently didn’t have a security designation.

Every time every president talked about classified details in a speech, they should have been arrested, especially and only if they were a threat to a democrat. That is now the Orwellian standard.

It’s my understanding that politicians are granted their security clearances by virtue of their being elected. I don’t believe they go through the background investigations that we mere mortals have to.
Otherwise Omar and Obama would never have been given clearances.
Matthew Whitaker, former acting head if DOJ, said this morning that the document reffered to in the indictment that they say Trump was talking about on the tape recording has never been found. So, who knows what this document actually is/was and what it says.
Will the DOJ or FBI be able to fabricate a false recording or document like, say, the Steele dossier?

However up the discretion of Speaker of the House for committee and for reps it might not extend to the top secret classification as a wood for El Presidenté, there needs to be a change. Plain and simple if a person does not qualify for TS perhaps he or she shouldn’t run.
That said the CIA has a close hold on access and need to know. Good, but that’s probably due to their TS-SCI clearance needs. Presidential briefs are groomed for whatever level their president is at however he or she is not going to get the full monty if it’s really high level project or operational classification.
