As demonstrated by the discovery of documents with classification markings(1) in the homes of President Trump, President Biden, and Vice President Pence, deficient document handling and storage procedures are not limited to any individual, administration, or political party. A legislative solution by Congress is required to prevent the DOJ from continuing to conduct ham-handed criminal investigations of matters that are not inherently criminal.
Pg. 1, Footnote 1:
The purpose of this letter is not to opine about whether these documents are actually classified or have been declassified, but retain their classification markings. Despite our requests to DOJ, it has refused to tell us whether in its judgment any of the documents remain classified. Similarly, DOJ has refused to allow for inspection of the documents at any time during the last eight months despite the fact that one of our attorneys has sufficient clearance to view the majority of the documents marked as classified.

When President Trump left office, there was little time to prepare for the outgoing transition from the presidency . . . White House staffers and General Service Administration ("GSA") employees quickly packed everything into boxes and shipped them to Florida. This was a stark change from the standard preparations made by GSA and National Archives and Records Administration ("NARA") for prior administrations. As NARA acknowledged in a Press Statement it issued on October 11, 2022:
The National Archives and Records Administration ("NARA"), in accordance with the Presidential Records Act, assumed physical and legal custody of the Presidential records from the administrations of Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Ronald Reagan, when those Presidents left office. NARA securely moved these records to temporary facilities that NARA leased from the General Services Administration ("GSA"), near the locations of future Presidential Libraries that former Presidents built for NARA. All such temporary facilities met strict archival and security standards, and have been managed and staffed exclusively by NARA employees.

[NARA] did not take custody of the documents and this made necessary the transfer of boxes of documents to President Trump's heavily secured home at Mar-a-Lago. To be clear, had NARA offered President Trump the same assistance that it had provided to all previous Presidents, he would have accepted the offer and there would have been no reason to transfer the documents to Mar-a-Lago.
There is no way that a mansion that is 20.000 square feet plus he had no room to put boxes except in the bathroom… remember the feds during the search shut off the cameras we all know what they did

Why did Biden ?
Why did Pence ?
None of them had any rights to these files after leaving office .
Why did Trump need secret Iranian attack plans in Palm Beach after leaving DC ?

More than likely the truth.
Being President is a demanding job, 24/7, even up to the last hour in office. So arrangements have been made, for everything that is in the residential part of the White House, to be moved to the personal home of the ex-president, and safely stored, until it can be sorted out, after they are out of office and have time to review.
I’ve heard the grace period for this to happen is 2 years. Supposedly, as they were approaching the 2 year deadline for Trump to have it sorted out, is when all this box moving and arguing started happening. Once they got passed the 2 year deadline, he got raided for not cooperating.
Whatever happened to the security tapes? Could be the trump card.

Trump does not reside in the main Mara Lago Resort property, is my understanding. His “residence” is a house off to the side, that only has about 3,000 total square feet. The residence is the only part of Mara Lago that was raided, and where the documents were all stored/found.
(You really believe Trump stored boxes in the bathroom?)
If he didn’t store them there I wish Trump would have come out publicly and said the FBI moved them there from where he originally had them stored at the time of the raid. I wonder why he didn’t?

That's what the evidence shows so far. Trump kept the security cameras running while the FBI was there, and I've not seen them contest this. Didn't Hillary supposedly keep her server in some bathroom? (ducks)
That goes to Trump's state of mind, which I can't attest to. I can only give you the theories I've heard out there.
- He considered them trophies and liked to admire them
- He liked to show them to friends as an example of his power
- He wanted time to review them while developing new policy ideas
- He told Sean Hannity they were worth a lot since Nixon got million$ for turning his in
- He was sharing them with the Saudis or others for money or influence

If you recall, the FBI asked that Mar-A-Lago staff were asked to turn off their surveillance cameras and refused.
Trump has all of their activity on HD video and audio. If this is true, we will find out in short order.
Never said I supported double standard. Definitely is one for anyone that is not a Dem.
However- Trump knows they would come after him and just don’t understand the logic of storing things at Mar Largo.

He had no reason to have these files .,
A ex - President does not need these secret files .
By the way Trump did not declassify all these files .
He admitted it on tape .

A germaphobe wouldn’t store them in a bathroom next to the toilet. How do the housekeepers keep the floor clean? They can’t mop close to cardboard boxes or they’d get ruined. I see no evidence of moping or sweeping around the boxes. There would be a little line of dust along the edge of the boxes if they’d been there for any length of time so proof it’s a set up.
