Shocking footage has captured the moment a handcuffed man who was in police custody in London, fatally shot an officer while in a cell.
Louis De Zoysa, 25, pulled out an antique revolver from a concealed underarm holster and fired from point-blank range, with a bullet striking Police Sergeant Matt Ratana.
The accused had his hands secured behind his back, but he managed to fire four rounds, The Sun reports.
Edited CCTV released on Wednesday night London time, captured the shooting which killed the 54-year-old cop.
A full-length version was played to jurors at De Zoysa’s trial, attended on Wednesday by Sargent Ratana’s partner Su Bushby.
It showed De Zoysa swivelling to his right, lifting the back of his jacket and pulling out the gun with his right hand in one swift movement before firing into Sargent Ratana’s chest.
Two other cops in the cell at the custody centre in Croydon, South London, are then seen diving on the gunman.

WTH? They don’t search suspects before putting them in cells? Completely avoidable and tragic.
Gee, and I thought that handguns were banned in the U.K. and that made it such a safe country.
Don’t tell me there isn’t inbreeding in that one. Just look at it.
Poor procedure. The guards/cops should never enter a cell with a firearm.

Looks like in this case they didn’t bother to search the perp before putting him in the cell. The surviving cops need to go to The Barney Fife Police Academy.
Why should they search the perp? Handguns are illegal and A “Gun free Zone” sign was posted on the door.

It is obvious the British police are incompetent in this respect. I don’t see even the most incompetent American policeman not completely searching arrested people before even putting them in the car.

I have had two friends who had pistols after being searched, one I was with and he threw it into a ditch (after being searched) before they put us in the car, and the other told me he was sitting handcuffed on the bench at the station in the awkward position of still having a pistol on him and not knowing how to handle the situation.
Never heard of it. Not in this country. Not to say it doesn’t happen and we don’t have incompetents too (because we do) but in a country with north of 350 million privately owned firearms, it is a matter of personal survival for police.
The death penalty needs to be employed for clear cut, well documented cases like this.
The death penalty should be for the criminals, not the victims.
This is an obvious deep-fake hoax because guns are not allowed in the UK. It is impossible for this to happen. Extreme white nationalists are definitely trying to trick us into opposing reasonable gun control measures in the US.
