It is not unusual for people with means to switch attorneys for a trial. Some attorneys are “trial attorneys” and some are the attorneys you want to navigate the case pre-indictment.

Could be that simple and if there was a disagreement over strategy the client gets to decide.

Trial-to-win folks are a very different breed.

I think in England it's normal to have one lawyer do the preparation for the trial and a second lawyer to argue in court. At least it used to be that way.

Anyway there is a story of the second lawyer arriving in court for the case and opening the folder left for him by the first lawyer. It just had one piece of paper inside which read: "No case. Abuse the plaintiff's attorney."
