i visited a fire station a couple of weeks ago to take care of a personal matter (totally unrelated to this topic).
i recall chatting with a couple of firefighters on ordinary topics. i accidentally let them know during the course of the discussion (autos) that it seemed to me that autos are becoming more costly to keep and maintain in the last couple of years. soon, we were talking politics, but the firefighters immediately let me know that i was in a “TDS free zone” and so I did not have to worry about offending anyone about my viewpoint.
On reflection it seemed to me that fire stations are one of the last “TDS zones” remaining in local government. I know that my local government “took the knee” back when it was considered imperative that local government do so. Apparently my local firefighters did not get the complete woke message back then.
however, the line is probably where this guy is, in the first level of firefighter management. Once he is publicly humiliated, how many other firefighter captains would be willing to hold the line against converting their fire stations to wokism, and putting their family’s lives at risk?
what if a fire captain were to run for political office? would non-woke political campaign speeches get him fired?
imho the people of this town are correct to protest since it is a 1A issue and the town has no right to regulate speech of its employees 24/7, especially in s woke slanted manner.
What is TDS ?
