Sorry, I was going by the graphic in this video from Fox News: Sonic boom heard in Washington DC area came from two F-16 jets.

Scroll to the 3:50 mark and you can see that it appears that the plane is returning to its origination point.

Also, some planes do have an "autoland" feature of their autopilots.

Does it seem odd that the pilot had done a 180 in preparation to land at NY air port and then passed out?
The father said they were returning to the Hamptons from visiting him in North Carolina.
Wonder why the plane took off from Tenn?
So planes have auto pilots that return them to destination point AND land?
What if there isn’t enough fuel to get back to destination point?
