...and DeSantis does about as good against Biden. So no need to worry, let this run out. We have eight months until the first primaries and caucuses, well over a year until the convention. Besides, there are more people joining the race.

And Trump still has porn stars to still deal with. Those are on him. The other pending charges, Georgia is non-starter, simply persecution. And he's got the classified docs, which he was rightfully able to unclassify and he's in same boat as the other past presidents, so that is persecution unless they also prosecute Biden, Obama, Bush, etc. That is, unless they have one of his bad hiring choices conspiring to record him doing something more to hide classified docs or something. Until something different comes up, I figure all of this is simply persecutiion, not legit prosecution.

The big picture: Gender-affirming care would be directly under threat from Trump, who vowed in a video posted to his social network to punish doctors and hospitals who provided the services to trans and nonbinary people.

What he’s saying: In the video, Trump says he will push Congress to pass a law to ban gender-affirming care for minors nationwide.

Under his pledge, medical professionals who do provide gender-affirming care to youth would be cut off from Medicare and Medicaid, which serves as a major source of financial support for hospitals and physicians.

Teachers or school officials who “suggest to a child that they could be trapped in the wrong body” would face “severe consequences,” Trump added. That could take the form of civil rights penalties and loss of federal funds, NBC News reports.

The event that he was hosting was celebrating homosexual rights and, more particularly, a same-sex marriage law that had recently been signed by Joe Biden. Trump himself has said that it is a great honor to be the most pro-gay President in American history.

Trump rolls with the polls and with public opinion. For example, he once claimed to be against homosexual marriage when the general public was also against it. Now he is "fine" with it. He now claims to be against transgender surgery, which the general public is also against. When that public opinion changes, his will too, as in other cases in which he has flip-flopped.

He has been good for social conservatives on pro-life issues, because it was politically expedient to do so. He is not a social conservative, though, unless it is politically valuable to him.

I will not blindly support any candidate. I will support those that support my values. I look forward to examining where they stand in the coming campaign.

The transgender community is opposed to Trump because of his positions on transgender issues. However, Log Cabin Republicans endorsed him in 2020 because of his changed positions on homosexual rights. If Trump were to run again in 2028, the transgender community might be willing by then to endorse Trump because of his changing positions on transgender issues. He follows the polls and public opinion, not any absolute values that he holds.
