SALIX, Iowa — It has become a bit. In these early days of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ bid for president, Casey DeSantis joins her husband onstage, and the stories start to roll.
There’s the one about bottled water from the Sea of Galilee, preciously savored for the children’s baptisms, that’s accidentally tossed out by a housekeeper at the governor's residence. Then there are Casey’s attestations of mom-hood, battling permanent marker scrawls on furniture and dragging by day’s end, when her husband comes home from work and she hands over the three children.
The couple fires off all the indicators of wholesome family values to a conservative evangelical-heavy GOP audience. And even without mentioning Donald Trump's name, they set up an inescapable antithesis to the former president, who faces charges related to a porn star payoff and was found liable for sexual abuse and who, when he landed in Iowa on Thursday, wasn’t accompanied by his wife.

You sure sound sleazy and oily with that kind of trash talk.
Well, if people think it’s OK to criticize DeSantis and his wife Casey, which they seem to be doing at every opportunity, they better be prepared for the reverse. That’s all I have to say.
I was right.
The only-Trumpers were on this like Chris Christie on a donut. Better watching than a feeding frenzy on Shark Week.
These 2 are gonna destroy each other, and Nimrata will be the stalking horse.
MAGA has become a 4 letter word. Will Never Trumpers be zotted, as in 2016. That birthed the neverending freep-a-thons.
Just because I voted for Trump in 2020, it does not make me MAGA. My money and time goes to the True Texas Project.
That was put out when he was running for re-election this past fall.
I agree 100%. Who cares what President Trump did prior to his presidency? And why should we? He did his best for our Country while fighting an uphill battle.
Governor DeSantis appears to be a great governor for the state of Florida. But, what does he really stand for? He talks a good talk and has a beautiful family. But is for/against Ukraine? Did he make that commercial supporting Trump (the one with his kids) just to get elected? What about his voting record when he was in the house? Even saying whether he would run/or not had deceptive undertones.
And how would candidate DeSantis carry over in the general? Do you think independents would flock to a candidate that appears so divisive?
Governor DeSantis appears to be the media darling, but, as we have all seen before, they like to build you up before they tear you down.
So, are you saying you are disavowing criticism of DeSantis’s wife and family?
If one didn’t already know, having the media be able to write “faces charges related to a porn star payoff” is the whole point of that nonsense charge. Never mind that she currently owes him for liability from creepy (now in jail) porn lawyer’s suit.
Same with the other nonsense. The RINO brigade asks daily, “what does it take to pry voters off Trump anyway?!” They could start by not being Democrats’ lapdogs, but that’s beyond their scope.
IMO this has nothing to do with Ron per se, but if the people behind him keep this up he’ll be off the map soon. People of all types are sick of the gaslighting.
“He did not work with Congress to get anything permanently accomplish”.....
Are you serious? Who did you expect him to work with? Paul Ryan? Nancy Pelosi? You can back your candidate from now til 2024 but at least have an intelligent argument to back things up. It’s easy to get “things done” if you have a republican senate and house who will work with you. President Trump didnt have that luxury.
He could have negotiated, found solutions. We’ve had leaders who reached across the isle to get things done. He failed and nothing and no one suggests it would be any different on a second term. Heck, he’s out bragging he’ll turn everything around in six months? How? Fleeting executive orders again?
Just come out and accuse him of adultery. You've all but done it.
Why play the insinuation game?
Oh, that's right. It's all a game.
Never mind.
It makes sense now. Thank you.
The Anti-Trumpers are trying hard to control the narrative here.
They forget what we all went thru here before a
during Trump years.
Trump bore the weight of his office alone.
Oh boy….what nonsense. Almost…No it is…laughable.
DeSantis would be wise to look at Jimmy Carter for some of his talking points.
(1) He’s had over 4 decades post-presidency to see what has happened to the country & he isn’t one of those presidents who could come in to do his thing & then soon be gone and unaccountable quickly. DeSantis is young and knows he’ll have to watch his legacy in his retirement so he’ll be focused on what’s good for America’s long-term.
(2) Carter was a one-term President and Americans tend to have fonder memories of two-term Presidents like Reagan and Clinton.
It’s quite likely that Jimmy Carter will die before the Election as he’s on hospice and if he survives til October 1, 2024 then he will be 100 years old.
