In which case the clerk will be replaced by a dispensing system and there will be nobody to rob.

My fathers uncle in ireland, Uncle Bertie, had a store that you had to order from the counter. My dad also went with him on a late night cruise to get stuff from the Northern side of the lake. Ballyshannon, was in the south. The family shared a grandmother by marriage with Tony Blair. When he was a kid they used to call him bunny due to his large pointed ears.

If everyone has nothing it will be equality.

You can still get impulse purchasing from a kiosk. Look at store websites and even in-store video displays that promote stuff for examples how.

Those are already a reality in many places. The kiosks are much more polite and have less attitude than the average retail clerk. And it doesn’t spit in your food or sabotage your order.

And VERY inconvenient for all the honest customers!

Shop elsewhere.

Going to be difficult to do that when all major stores go to this sort of system.

Thing is, most retailers are finding that sales are *massively increasing* with order online/pickup in-store or at curbside systems. The current trend is that people aren’t going into the stores anyway.

Does the merchandise thieves total cost exceed the unplanned purchases?

If so, they got to do what they got to do...

True. But I live out in the rural South where people don’t rob stores.

I’m sure that’ll change, but it hasn’t yet...

You have to be way, way, way out in the boonies for that to still be the case, and that is rapidly changing for the worse. Criminals are figuring out that rural areas are often easier targets despite the inconvenience of having to travel to and from them.

The dummies that steal and shoplift for a living will be stymied for a bit. They’re too stupid to work the kiosk keypad if they are compelled to pay for their goods. So, hopefully they will eventually starve to death. I personally would require anyone convicted of shoplifting to wear an ankle monitor that sounds off when they enter a retail store so they can be thrown out and told to order from Amazon

Good luck balancing that cheery, non-crying analysis with what you see when you walk into the company’s freshly redesigned store at 2 East Roosevelt in downtown Chicago.

State St. and Roosevelt isn't "downtown" Chicago by local standards but is for suburbanites and those outside HELLINOIS I suppose.

And it's not exactly a great neighborhood with the homeless population, the stores that've closed up, the flophouse "hotel" where the hookers and drug addicts hang out, etc..

Still, if this is what Walgreens thinks they need to do at State & Roosevelt, then what about elsehwere in the city where it's just as bad, such as further north on State Street in the loop or over on Michigan Ave which get hit hard by shoplifters and the "urban yutes" that riot peaceably protest during the coming "summer of love" that promises to rival that of 2020?

True dat. But...don’t think for a minute that the leftist retards won’t also use those kiosk simulated AIs to shove and push their agenda down our throats. They’re already using lamestream media and most of tv and movie products to shove their agenda in our face.

AIs aren’t really to the point where they have a simulated personality quite yet. Also, what’s a simulated AI - a dumb chatbot that only has canned responses? :P

In terms of ordering kiosks and such, I don’t see that happening much. That costs extra to put in the system (quite a lot extra) and is multiple extra points of failure. Mostly these things will just be outgrowths of existing mobile ordering apps - which are *far* less leftist-crap-spouting than the stores’ personnel themselves, usually.

As I said, yet...

Still, the shotgun right there by the register is for more than persuasion. The clerks aren’t some teenyboppers, either.

But you’re right, our society is spinning down the flush toilet.

Whenever I read posts like this, I think of a column of yours that I read maybe ten years ago on Gates of Vienna site where you predicted that the way things are going, if we need to drive in cities, eventually we will be using armored cars. Bingo.
