The GOPe want the deal. DeSantis seems, based on this reporting, to be against it.

So how is that following GOPe advice.

Cause Trump and others have all had staffs that NEVER EVER EVER try to undermine them? You could fill a phone book with the backstabbers that Trump had to deal with.

DeSantis is about to find out that he’s surrounded by backstabbers just as Trump is.

If you have a “spokesperson” their statement should align perfectly with your policy. So, does DeSantis have a spokesperson or a handler?

They're all back stabbers. It's just when, how and if it is revealed.

this is the actual news — what did the candidate say? But the endless spinning by SoConPubbie makes for a better Free Republic narrative

here’s the truth

*****
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis attacked the bipartisan deal to raise the debt ceiling Monday, saying the country was “careening towards bankruptcy” and criticizing the “massive” amount of spending in the deal, as DeSantis’ top rival for the 2024 GOP presidential primary—former President Donald Trump—remains mum on the agreement.

In an interview with Fox News’ Fox & Friends, DeSantis aligned himself with some members of the hard-right House Freedom Caucus who do not support the agreement to hold non-military spending flat at 2023 levels—which many Republicans believed were too high.

DeSantis said the U.S. government’s spending habits have been out of control since the pandemic began, and argued that sticking with the Covid-19-prompted budget levels would be “totally inadequate” to get the country in a better spot.

“In Washington D.C. they do these cycles to just get them through the next election and that’s ultimately one of the reasons why they continue to fail,” DeSantis said of the debt ceiling during the Fox & Friends interview.

DeSantis — telling the truth that makes most posters on FreeRepublic twist like pretzels as they try to spin a talking point.

When Trump was indicted or was involved in the Stormy Daniels situation, Trump Diehards were demanding DeSantis back Trump and every issue since then all of them were demanding DeSantis take a stand.

We have not heard one word from Trump on the Budget deal, remember Trump’s Endorsed Speaker of the House is Kevin McCarthy, who negotiated this deal, isn’t it only fair that we demand that Trump speak about the budget deal, is he for it or against it, we should know how Trump feels, he’s supposed to be the master negotiator.

My first thought after I read this feeble attempt to rag on DeSantis.

Can neither Trump nor DeSantis field a team without GOPe tentacles?

As far as Trump’s campaign team? Yes, for the most part. His administration? Not so much.

DeSantis’s campaign team? No. He’s a creation of the GOPe. They’ve been there every step of the way.

That's what I get for having respected Cotes for so long, & reading it, too quickly obviously, that he quit because DeSantis was supporting the debt ceiling deal, when just the opposite was the case. Cortes must be suffering from something, because all of a sudden he is a totally different person. I can't imagine what has happened to him. Perhaps he was never what he projected himself to be. Man I have to start doing a better job of reading, that's for certain.

Anyway, thank you for alerting me to my shortcoming with regard to this report. I must have assumed that he had come to his senses. But he has lost his senses. Mea culpa. 😋

My thoughts as well. I have watched Cortes on Bannon’s War Room for more than two years and in the past six weeks has fallen off the MAGA wagon. Somebody bought him off.

Yale doublespeak.

Frenchy Kerry: I was for the war before I was against.

Same deal with Ron and the Ukraine.

He was against it, before he was for it.

Professional politicians just can’t help themselves, they want it both ways.
