Poland is piggie in the middle, again.
Poland most definitely is not piggie in the middle again.
It’s leading the move to support Ukraine and it’s spending 3.5% of its GDP to arm itself. On its western flank there is no military capable of taking it on (except of course for the UK and France, both of whom could do so handily) - and they don’t see any threat there - but there is a threat on the eastern flank
My fear is what the west will demand of Poland in return for support?
I do believe Poland, even if it were alone, could hold their own against the Russians. And I am glad to see them stepping up, frankly it should have started as soon as the Russians left.
Now that Putin has Luky locked up in a hospital, I looks like you are right. Although a move on the Stans is a possibility, I suspect his next move might be into Kaliningrad, there to intimmidate the Baltic states and Germany, among others. Was there any truth to recent reports that Luky would not let Russian troops move into Belarus?
I’m sure Luky made these statements with great enthusiasm. He was probably also offered a choice of flying lessons or his own personal nukes. If Russian troops move into Belarus they will be able to move into north Ukraine again. I wonder if there will be the resistance to Russia like that provided by some railway workers during the last Russian transit.
There was a time when Luka pictured uniting Russia and Belarus under his rule, then Putin happened.
Belarus was doing better. They did not dismantle all the Soviet institutions unlike in Russia where they handed it over to the Oligarchs.
Russian troops that were stationed in Kaliningrad, now stationed underground in Ukraine.
Russia has no troops or equipment to take on anything outside of Ukraine.
The only way for Russian troops to get into Ukraine from Belarus is through Poland. The rest of the Border is heavily defended and virtual suicide for any Russian troops.
Boris Yeltsin was a nice guy. But he was drunk. Ultimately, he brought us Putin. That’s his legacy.
Clinton manipulated him.
Incentivizing despotism. Who says he’s not an opportunist?
It worked well in the past. All members of The Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere were bequeathed hundreds of thousands of Imperial Japanese troops, naval vessels and aircraft to protect their sovereignty.
Guess it's ok when we do it.
“Incentivizing despotism. Who says he’s not an opportunist?”
Does it matter? If we just let Ukraine play out as it should have, there almost certainly wouldn’t be nukes in Belarus, and Belarus wouldn’t be talking about giving them away, possibly to Iran, by the way.
Luckily we don’t listen to quislings, like you.
“Luckily we don’t listen to quislings, like you.”
Don’t forget, Belarus has a border with Ukraine, so Ukraine now best behave, because Belarus can now make things really, really, bad in Ukraine.
...something they couldn’t do until the Neocons go control of Ukraine.
Gennady Zyuganov wanted to go back to the old way after everything fell apart. So they were better off with Putin. He embraced capitalism. And instituted a flat tax of 13%. Russia would probably be okay today if Putin didn’t annex Crimea in 2014.
We're paying for it. And Ukraine is really paying for it.
That’s what people have to understand about Putin. He wants Russia to be powerful as the Russian Empire and The Soviet Union, on the world stage, but he doesn’t want the economics of The Soviet Union.
Yes he worked for the KGB. And guess what? He would have worked for the Okhrana, if the Czar was still in charge.
Fortunately for Ukraine, Putin is not that smart. He did not realize the extent of the corruption in the Russian military. Now he's in a position where he cannot afford to lose. So he's a cornered rat. He's alive as long as he gets to hold on Crimea. If Zelenksy captures Crimea, all bets are off.
Yeah they better listen to a great big muggle like you.
Who should Russia listen to as they are totally F’d ?
