Nope, it's for real. I know for a good while the big-box stores of all types had a policy of not calling the law. Which drove store managers bonkers. Some would get incensed to the point of calling in anyway, but any response got dashed when asked if the company would follow through on prosecuting if they went through the trouble of chasing the thieves down. I think now there's been a few modifications to policy at some places, but not by much.

How are the employees’ injuries or death from what the employees chose to do the company’s problem?

Which would be horrible, but how is that the company’s responsibility?

Maybe they should write laws that say that.

Many companies have a similar policy.

Yes, insurance companies could help stop this by jacking up rates for companies that enact such a policy, but the “progressives” in government would then punish the insurance companies.

That Lululemon store’s phone number is (678) 321-9072. I might call and let them know exactly what I think of their “policy.”

Probably should, if the laws don’t already say so. As I said, I don’t know specifically what the law requires in such matters. I’d guess that it might depend on the crime, so that failing to report a murder would be more serious than failing to report a theft. One of my brothers is a lawyer; perhaps I’ll ask him the next time we talk.

Suppose your shift is ending. You clock out just as thieves are leaving, so instead of going straight home, you follow and get the information. Is that a violation?
Suppose you’re straightening the rack and one of the thieves is coming down that aisle. The thief bumps into you, falls, drops al the stuff, and you wind up tackling him. You hold him until the police come. You get fired for interfering?
