causing increased overdose deaths

They say this like it’s a bad thing. Junkies are junkies BY CHOICE. Nobody stuck a gun to their heads and forced them to become junkies, but when they overdose they tie up ER resources that could be used by people with real emergencies like heart attacks, automobile crashes, strokes, shootings, etc. I have no problem with some half wit deciding to turn into a zombie who lives for drugs. What I have a big problem is when these junkies cause problems for others - stealing, robbing, squatting on someone else’s property, using up limited health care resources, sucking up our tax dollars, etc. Be a junkie if you want, but if you pass out in the street I’ll just walk around you and keep on going.

While I agree that calling most of these people victims is incorrect, there is a large segment who were forced into addiction by the sex traffickers.

We lose tens of thousands of young girls every year to sex trafficking. They do not leave the country. They are forced onto heroin, etc and made to work the streets in places like Kensington.

So, some are truly victims.
