I voted for Ronald Reagan every chance I got even though he was divorced; I would have never thought to say he “stabbed his wife and best friend Jane Wyman in the back.” I don't think about it that way although others may.
And when Reagan ran against an incumbent GOP president, I would have never thought to say “Reagan stabbed Republican President Ford in the back.”
Governor DeSantis is being accused by some as “stabbing” an important private citizen in the back because he (DeSantis) has offered his services to the nation at the next political level. I view that kind of talk as exaggerated political hyperbole that is not to be taken literally.
I should add: I defend your right to make these kinds of statements. Whether you believe what you are saying or not, I defend your right to say ugly things about DeSantis and his supporters, especially if you have a flawless candidate to recommend.
Somehow you have divorce stuck in your brain while trying to compare running for office to marital relationships, all in an attempt to defend DeSantis turning his back on the people of the State of Florida, who trusted him enough to give him a second term, not knowing he planned to abandon them for higher fame. Defend that instead.
Vote for whoever you want. I don't have to agree with you, and you don't have to agree with me. We each have our right to our own opinions. Let's leave it at that.
