Deutsche Welle ^

Posted on 05/27/2023 3:47:20 AM PDT by FarCenter

At 100, Henry Kissinger is both hailed for his diplomatic brilliance and condemned for his decisions that cost many lives. He is America’s most experienced statesman and firmly focused on the future rather than the past.

Yes that was a critical mistake. France was hellbent to reclaim their colonial territories but it was a wasted effort. People don’t even know that Ho Che Mien was an ally of our during W.W. II and that all manner of left over arms were given to him at the end of the war. That same scenario also happened in North Korea.

Let’s tap the brakes on Ho Chi Minh. He was one of the founding members of the French Communist Party in 1917, and was a member of the Comintern since it’s founding. He was always a Soviet agent.

Totally planned just like what you’re seeing in Ukraine today. The big difference is the magnitude of the threat to the world. There is zero threat to the world from Russia today. In 1964 it was give and take whether we’d survive the Chinese, Soviets and Warsaw Pact monolithic assault upon the Free World. Yes, Free World actually meant something sixty years ago.

It seems since the end of the Cold War, the US has lost it’s sense of purpose. We’ve tried by being the Global Policeman, and sticking our nose where it doesn’t belong, but it’s only been counter-productive.

You’re trying to tell me containment did not succeed?!? You’re going to have to do some real revisionist preaching to convince anyone of that.

I am telling you it was BS from the word go. We wasted the flower of our youth on a war, not worth fighting.

Containment worked. SEATO was part of containment. The Soviets would rule the world today without the success of containment. By hook or crook, the communists had to be stopped or at least significantly slowed down in SE Asia. I’m telling you 350,000 dead Americans was worth it to stop Nazism and the price paid for containment was worth it to destroy the Soviets and Comintern.

The Soviets never had the ability to rule the world, they could not even take care of their own people with basic necessities. They were already spending a huge amount of GDP on Defense as it was. All of that was Cold War Propaganda by the Deep State for a Continual State of Fear to have constant war which we have had since W.W. II. Pull back and do some research on this. That was as much Hysteria then as Covid 19 was today.

one of the main campaign issues in 1960 was the so called Missile Gap between us the Soviets with the implications they had more missiles. That was an outright lie and never was true but we bought it anyway. The Russians had way less missiles than we did but that issue made them spend even more money on Defense to catch up.

Man, you have a total disconnect with history. Not much else can be said of your acute revisionist blindness.

No, I don’t have a disconnect I obviously just read more than you do. You’re still buying into the same propaganda since the end of World War II, which is turned out to be all false.
