This sounds a lot like boxers who made incredible fortunes and then were broke.
One: Boxing legend Mike Tyson lost his entire $400 million fortune by 2003.
Another:Unable to manage his fortune, which was close to 250 million dollars, now he may even be forced to sell his most treasured possession: one of his cars. He was declared bankrupt after retiring and is now worth $500,000.
Middleweight Iran Barkley made $5 million and....
“Until recently, Barkley was homeless in New York City. He’d lived in a housing project with a family member but returned to find the locks changed one day. Barkley admits that he was contributing nothing to the family finances and seemed neither bitter nor surprised that he was shown the door.
A New York paper did a profile on Barkley’s life on the streets late last year. Between the efforts of some donors and the efforts of a nonprofit organization in the Bronx, Barkley is no longer spending his days and nights riding the subway. He’s moved into a renovated apartment and, hopefully, will be able to turn things around with a little more help.”
Leon Spinks made $5 million although management may have cheated him out of money. He defeated Muhammad Ali. The last reports on Spinks were that he was working for minimum wage as a janitor at a YMCA in Nebraska. Now suffers from dementia.
I still remember Richard Pryor's routine on Leon, "I ain't go no money, I ain't got no teefus, and I definitely ain't got no driver's license"
2nd boxer was Evander Holyfield.
Spinks died around 2 years ago from cancer
