Berlin (AFP) – German police on Wednesday carried out raids across seven states targeting climate activists of the "Letzte Generation" (Last Generation) group, which has sparked controversy with protesters glueing themselves to roads to block traffic.
The raids were ordered in an investigation targeting seven people aged 22 to 38 over suspicions of "forming or supporting a criminal organisation", said a joint statement by Bavaria's police and prosecutors.
Fifteen properties were searched, two accounts seized and an asset freeze ordered.
The suspects are accused of "organising a donations campaign to finance further criminal acts" for the group via its website.
At least 1.4 million euros ($1.5 million) had been collected in the campaign, said the authorities, adding that "these funds were according to current information mostly used for the committing of further criminal action of the association".
The authorities did not specify the "criminal action" they were referring to but said two of the suspects are alleged to have tried to sabotage an oil pipeline between Trieste, Italy, and Ingolstadt, Germany, deemed a "critical infrastructure" in Bavaria.

Needs more glue.
It’s ironic that the post just prior tagged the headline “pigs fly” because that’s what I though about this story.
I’ll make 5 observations:
1. Glue-kids leadership...totally shocked that apartments were raided. Triggered a press conference....which the press were refused on questions.
2. Lot of journalists believe that Last Generation will go the route of Red Army Faction (RAF) and get into terror operations. Some suggest this is the tipping point where it occurs.
3. Last Generation admits now that finances are crapped out....they need donations to funnel toward ‘players’ and their court fines.
4. German criminal code being used? You can protest, but it has to be a request, and not interrupt traffic (meaning you draw the map, tell the police a day ahead of time, and get their permission). If you fail on this request (as the kids have done)....you are a criminal (by the law). So they’ve (the police) have used the formation of a criminal gang law (like recruitment and funding), and those are the crimes to be charged against the seven chief folks.
5. Finally, I’d say since day one....getting the public to the side of the environmentalists has been a joke. In Berlin, I’d say all residents have a negative opinion of the group, and glue-tactics. The group thinks there’s some trend going on with public support....there really isn’t.
