GOP mega-donor urges Trump to drop out of 2024 race, backs DeSantis: It's 'time' for next generation

Ahead of Gov. Ron DeSantis' anticipated announcement this week, a GOP mega-donor is throwing his support toward the Florida Republican instead of former President Donald Trump.

Point Bridge Capital founder Hal Lambert explained in a FOX Business exclusive interview why he believes it's "time [for the Republican Party] to move on" to younger leadership.

"There's a number of reasons," Lambert said on "Cavuto: Coast to Coast" on Tuesday. "One, Donald Trump can only serve one term. He'll effectively be a lame duck almost on day one, if he were to win. But I don't think he can win the general [election]. That's the No. 2 reason. I don't think he can win the general."

"It's time to move on to the next generation. And Gov. DeSantis has a vision forward versus hashing out things from the past."

After going public with his candidate decision Monday, Lambert explained his rationale for supporting DeSantis.

"I like Donald Trump's policies. I like what he did. I'm basing it on bringing the country back together," Lambert said. "[Trump] is so divisive right now. If he were the nominee, this would be another situation where we're going to have the country, our own country, battling internally against each other in a way that's not health. y... I don't think it's healthy for the country to have to go through this in 2024 unnecessarily."

"We have a candidate in Ron DeSantis that can win, that has a record, that's conservative, that's the next generation. Why go through this unnecessary kind of hatred of each other in the country?"

He's just ahead 36-46 points depending the poll.

These donors don't give a hoot about what the base of the party wants. They want an oligarchy and know DeSantis will be their puppet.

"time [for the Republican Party] to move on" to younger leadership.

This is ageism. Younger does not equal "better" or "more effective."

The whole DeSantis thing is so scripted its painful.

I can hear the campaign consultants:

Wow, what a way to spin it. Mitt Romney won the nomination. So did George W. Bush. And so did Bob Dole. And so did George H. W. Bush. And so did Ronald Reagan. All of these spent the most. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying anyone should vote for DeSantis or even simply expect him to win because he has some big donors. But you’re turning the world on its head to pretend that it somehow hurts.

Cavuto? Is that little stooge still on TV? He looked like an adult Eddie Munster.

As everyone leaps to call him a RINO, a globalist, whatever, Hal Lambert founded MAGA ETF, a pro-American-business exchange-traded fund created specifically as a response to Target’s homopalooza. MAGA ETF is anti-globalist and specifically opposed to socially liberal values.

Trump’s largest donor was Sheldon Adelson, who have 75 million dollars. Adelson is a socially liberal globalist and casino kingpin who pushed hard for amnesty for all 11 million illegal aliens.

>Here comes “Orange Man” endorsing a Romney to chair the RNC. Man of the people indeed.

Hardly anyone here reads content anymore. It’s all zeebers this and putinistas that, Trump this or Ron the other.

I like Ron; he has done OK in Florida with some exceptions (yes, he did lockdowns, but reversed course early, so is that a problem or a kudo?). I really don’t like the moneyed people who run the GOP establishment. I don’t think it’s Ron’s fault they’ve picked (on) him as the anti-Trump; he’s not a billionaire and can’t tell them all where to go.

The problem is that if he wins, he’s going to be obliged to the same people who hate us and sabotaged Trump. Trump certainly isn’t perfect (one of many cases in point: Fauci. Did you see what this worm did in the 80s? Did you not see him doing the same again?) but one can hope since all the RINOs went berserk pulling out every stop to backstab him, maybe he’s got a list of people who aren’t horrible?

Personally I wish they’d team up on the MAGA side and anti-RINO and then I don’t care whose name is where. At present though it’s a bit of ‘enemy of my enemy’ and both the left and the RINOs hate, hate, hate Trump, and a lot of the ‘friends’ we don’t need are backing Ron and mostly only because they hate Trump.

“Actually, Trump is the only one who has previous experience,
he knows what it’s like and he isn’t going to have to take
names first. The only problem is the gop.”

The only problem is that Trump would have to win more than his base. He won’t do it.

“Hey Rino-world,
Stop trying to make Desantis happen, it’s not going to happen.”

Hey Only Trumpers, get off your knees and be realistic about
trump’s age, his attacks on other Republicans and Conservatives instead of Biden and the fact he can only carry his base and that is not enough (if the election is not fraudulent).

” IF he doesn’t fulfil his duty to Florida to finish his time as such there will BE no vote for him from anyone in this household.”

If you can’t have it your way, you’ll take the ball and go home.

Thank you. All the Only Trumpers are so emotionally attached they are completely unable to objectively weigh facts. Many are just name calling, bumper sticker followers who drink Trump’s political mouthpiece’s Kool Aid.

If that is your criteria, bring back Jimmah Carter.

I won’t be hateful but I won’t vote for a Jeb Bush RINO. Not going to happen. I am not going back to the old days of establishment choices and be expected to fall in line.

I'm voting for President Trump even if I have to write him in. The trust in RINOs is gone. No more picking the "lesser of two evils". No more negotiating with extortionists.

No quite. He was originally a Cruzer and jumped on the Trump train at the last minute in 2016. Then he jumped off it.
