The Texas House passed two key election reform bills after they passed the Senate last month. Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Houston, filed both bills to prevent election irregularities that occurred in Harris County over the last two election cycles from occurring again or from being replicated in other counties.
Bettencourt introduced the election reform bills after allegations of widespread fraud were made after the 2020 and 2022 elections in Harris County and numerous lawsuits were filed stemming from Democratic officials changing election management procedures.
“Both bills passing means the botched 2022 elections in Harris County shouldn't happen again,” Bettencourt tweeted after the vote. He said the bills passing was a “MAJOR VICTORY for Harris County voters” and a “HUGE public policy win for voters in Harris County and statewide for election systems integrity.”

The Texas Rangers last year launched an investigation into three employees working for Democratic Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo over their alleged involvement in reportedly awarding a taxpayer-funded multi-million-dollar contract to a company with reported ties to Democratic Party operatives.
Hidalgo, and the staffers’ attorneys, maintain they followed the law. Three, including Hidalgo’s chief of staff, were indicted.

“Harris County had very serious issues in the handling of electronic media,”
Key findings included: “in at least 14 polling locations, mobile ballot boxes containing 184,999 cast vote records included in the tally did not have proper chain of custody;” county officials weren’t “able to provide documentation for the creation of 17 MBBs accounting for 124,630 cast vote records;” electronic poll book records from at least 26 early voting locations and eight election day polling locations didn’t match the Tally Audit Log for those locations; Harris County officials didn’t have an inventory of their warehoused records for the 2020 General Election; 534 boxes were counted but didn’t include all records or their labels didn’t match their contents, among other discrepancies.
But it's progress. Maybe not a white pill, but definately an antidote to the black pill defeatism that is always a temptation when discussing the state of our elections.
Queen Sheila Jackson Lee has yet to “whale” in.
all the big democratically run cities. Major election results always turn on how the large cities go.
This last election cycle, the Democratic Party turned the national election into a corrupt political machine opperation.
Hate to say it because I wasn’t on FR at the time, but I called 22. Red Wave my @**, red slosh.

I believe the indictments were all related to a contract as referenced in the article below. It was for “COVID-19 vaccine outreach”.

The problem is that dems simply ignore election laws already on the books as is AZ.
State AGs refuse to investigate or prosecute and it seems that no US citizen has standing in court.
Not sure more laws will accomplish much.
It's like the current Act Blue scandal. You have countless people saying on video they did not contribute massive amounts of money to dem causes yet their names are listed on the donation list hundreds of times.
Its slam dunk election fraud yet I have yet to hear of a single state or local investigation even being opened.
Can anyone explain it to me?

Until severe and I mean SEVERE punishments are visited upon election fraud perps, there will be no real change. The punishment should start with decades of breaking rocks in the AZ desert up to and including a one-way trip to an adobe wall for the most egregious.
I think of Harry Reid lying thru his teeth about Romney’s tax situation and then laughing about it after Romney lost. When called out about his lies he said (paraphrasing) “So what? We won.” IMHO he should have been kicked out of the Senate, caned, stripped of his pension, and sent home.
Democrats have no ethics, no respect for the rule of law, or anything that used be considered decent in USA society. Fook ‘m all!
“This is a rare example of the GOP addressing some of the massive election rigging that the Democarat machines have been putting in place wherever they hold power.”
NOT GOP, Texas.
It is a (not so rare) TEXAS example addressing election rigging.
.
“This is a rare example of the GOP...”
Here in Texas, getting ANYTHING conservative through the nominally-GOP House takes an act of God. Thankfully, He was here for us this time.
Harris county is a corrupt Dem mess, and has been for a long time.
This isn’t much, but it’s something, and I, for one, will take the W when it comes along.
We need a lot more of this sort of thing though.
All true and the republicans offer us nothing but endless hearings that go nowhere. The dems and the DOJ have a symbiotic relationship. We won't go after you if you don't go after us.
With the DOJ having chosen sides there's not much we can do. The DOJ will need to be cleaned out before we can do anything with the dems.
