“”Bay Area water is too cold anyway””
We grew up visiting Pescadero Beach, so we are used to the colder water. Besides, as long as you keep swimming, it’s not cold.
Growing up we had a cabin near Aptos in Santa Cruz that had a surfboard left by Duke Kahanamoku (August 24, 1890 – January 22, 1968). A great swimmer and the man who brought surfing to California, he used a board made of wood that must have been 8-9 foot tall. It weighed about fifty pounds. It was never used. No one could handle it. It was stolen. A pity, because it should be in a museum.

Haha, I used to love rolling in the surf on the San Mateo coast, but the kids bought a shorty wetsuit for me because they were afraid I would succumb to hypothermia and drown! Invigorating!
I kinda stopped when I noticed an uptick of guys my age getting killed doing stuff like that and switched to kayaking.
