The problem is that by playing the “some people say” game, Trump is implying without actually saying that he disagrees with strict abortion bans. His statement on negotiating and “finding a solution we can all agree with” implies that he would make abortion a Federal issue again, but any compromise that states like CA, IL, NY, NJ, etc. would agree to would necessarily require states like FL, TX, OK, etc. to lose the abortion bans they have recently passed. Trump is really putting himself in the position of pissing off all but the hardcore OnlyTrumpers. Conservatives will be mad that he wants to allow more abortions, and moderates/leftists will be mad because he wants to restrict abortion in their leftist states.
Conversely, everything that Trump says, does, or is merely attributable to him, puts him in the position of pissing off Never-Trumpers on FR.
