Look, Trump was ready to negotiate an assault weapons ban with the Democrats. It was only because they disrespected him so much that he didn't do it.
With regard to red flag laws, Trump said "We're going to take the firearms first and then go to court."
I think Trump seems to believe he cannot win on conservatism. He thinks conservative policies hurt him in 2020. That is why he is attacking the most conservative governor in the nation.
I believe Trump thinks he can position himself between Biden and DeSantis on policy and "negotiate" a middle ground on every issue.
Frankly, I do not want a middle ground with the left on assault weapon bans, red flag laws or abortion
True. I don’t understand why Trump says the things he says. I just don’t see the need. I don’t plan on voting for DeSantis (he’s my Governor) but I’m starting to rethink my vote for Trump. We need strong solutions for what ails this country.
Trump is not and never has been a Conservative, he is a Populist and a New York one at that.. Populism as it’s name implies goes with what is Popular...He has tossed Christians, Pro Lifer’s and Gun Owners...who is next?

So what is Trump going to do, ask the federal government to mandate abortions in every state of the country? And will he insist that they be allowed to 12 weeks or 24 or maybe nine months?
So you’ll be OK with Trump only limiting late term abortions? Anything less is bad?

He never stopped H1B, he didn’t stop immigrants from India when he said that he would if they didn’t take deportees back, he didn’t deport any illegal aliens in the US to speak of, and we can go on and on and on, a lot of things Trump tried he did half assed, for talk not action, and they were stopped before the ink was dry or reversed as soon as he left office.

However, when he said things like “I own guns” and “most 2nd amendment friendly president of all time” what he was really saying was “vote for me”.
