As the government seeks to create eight new brigades, potential recruits are seeking to avoid joining the armed forces.
It would be almost possible to forget the war in the streets of Kyiv. More than a year after the outbreak of the invasion, the Ukrainian capital and the cities around it have returned to a semblance of normality. Today, one of the markers of the fighting in the country is on the walls and entrances of cities in the form of a recruitment campaign to join the armed forces. These posters, which display portraits of soldiers with determined faces, call on citizens to enlist to defend the country. One of the war effort operations, which has been run by the Ukrainian Ministry of the Interior since early February, aims to create eight new brigades.
The project, whose recruitment process is coming to an end, has the objective of "strengthening the Ukrainian forces," explained the deputy minister of the interior, Kateryna Pavlichenko. In her office, one of the walls is decorated with a portrait of the Ukrainian poet Lessia Oukraïnka (1871-1913) with a flashy pink inscription, "Women's power." Composed of different profiles of volunteers who went through a "very demanding selection process," the brigades also aim to meet the demand of the "current period," said the deputy minister on Wednesday, March 29.

At this point Ukraine can forget getting any more volunteers. Who want to volunteer for almost certain death in a war they have no hope of winning? What’s Zelensky gonna do force them all to serve at gunpoint?
I thought a ton of people had already fled the country, to avoid military service. How is that any different?
So is the Ukraine winning the war? Are all the hard worked to get taxpayer funds from the crashing economy from the US going to waste? Are you going to believe a media that has lied to you so many times that they can’t keep up with the mistruths to say the same thing twice? This is how crooked politicians make their dollars...con game.
And when the Ukraine boots, among others, are on the ground while others are trying to escape from them, do you feel charitable? Are you liberal or conservative? Does it make any difference on this topic? Both sides lose. And you foot the bill with funds, equipment, arms, and people while the ones that are doing it are in Japan eating sushi flying your private plane. Hardly seems fair does it? Or intelligent.

The war is brutal.
One thing the Russians do right is to saturate an area with artillery fire.
The infantry weapons both sides use are highly effective.

I’m not much of a defender of Ukraine, but at least they’re not advertising Drag Shows to get people to enlist, like a certain North American country is likely now doing.
