I had an elderly Balt tell me pretty much the same thing. The big difference between Nazi & Russian Soviet\Communist oppression was the Communist required you to believe the oppression was good for you. The stealing and killing was in your best interests!
Diversity -- meaning racial preference for blacks -- is good for all! White Supremacists are the greatest terror threat and must be suppressed! High taxes and government spending benefit everyone! The George Floyd riots were peaceful demonstrations against injustice! Trans operations on children are life-affirming! Illegal migrants are simply fleeing oppression for a better life!
The First Amendment and freedom of speech and thought are being rapidly eroded, with dissent from such policies often openly punished. The theft is becoming more blatant and is on the precipice of becoming settled blue state and Democratic federal policy in the form of tolerance of crime and soon race-based wealth taking via reparations. The killing and brutality are still at the margins, committed by non-state actors tacitly encouraged by Leftist policies, but it is easy enough to imagine worse to come.
