You are right. Streets are communal. There wouldn’t be that much of a difference beteeen the two.. Third world cultures wouldn’t mind.
Canary in the coal mine. Banks, Insurance companies, and Pension funds are the big holders of Treasuries and commercial real estate because they were deemed “safe”. The destruction of these asset classes has just begun, and the consequences will be remarkably horrible.

Excellent point about the elevators—in older big cities there are lots of stories about broken elevators in residential buildings.
The slumlords take their sweet time repairing them because they know they will just fail again—and a complete elevator renovation makes no economic sense.
Will the state/city adjust property taxes down based on these new valuations? What was I thinking? Of course not. They will raise them because of Diversity Inclusion and Equality (DIE).
