Interesting analogy. According to the article, the one thing Trump cannot handle strategically is a person who simply takes his punches and responds by sitting back on the ropes and taking the blows, but not really engaging. Until his opponent has exhausted himself.

DeSantis polled strongest before it became clear that he was going to run.

Every since then, he has been losing ground.

He’s like Hillary.

Polls strongest on Day One of the campaign and loses ground every day after.

All Trump has to do is talk about how DeSantis has refused to secure Florida’s elections, and Florida’s budgets since DeSantis became gov.

Nobody could understand this apparently suicidal rope-a-dope strategy other than Ali himself, who had deliberately planned it to exhaust his opponent.

This cheesy comparison to a great boxer is probably from Desantis' expanding circle of well paid establishment advisers and operatives.

After all the Murdoch/Ryan/PiersMorgan NY Post is on Team DeSantis.

A completely inane analogy.

DeSantis doesn’t even reach contender status.

And Trump will completely destroy his brand.

DeSantis would be smart to sit this one out and wait 4 years.

I’ve heard this same projection several times over the past few months. However, the polls suggest a widening gap in regards to support for Trump versus that for DeSantis, and conservatives seem to want Trump to have the opportunity to finish what he started.

Trump had to fight against the left, his own party, and every single federal agency, in addition to the media. After the release of the Durham report which confirmed everything we suspected by each of those players, I believe that Trump would have a better chance now of succeeding in implementing his policies. Any allegations against him in the future, will have less effect since, “who is going to believe them”?

Personally, I think DeSantis should stay as governor of Florida to complete his term and then run for President in 2028. However, if he is the nominee, I’ll vote for him as President. But, I sure would like to see Trump get revenge, both on his own behalf and that of his supporters. Not to mention the fact that his policies were actually great for our country. Until we return to a President who believes in “Drill baby, drill”, our economy will continue to decline and our standard of living will continue to drop.

DeSantis screwed up. He should’ve come out supporting Trump right from the get-go, stressing he had no interest in running for President in 2024, stayed in Florida & finished the great job he’s doing, and maybe, just maybe, offer to be VP for Trump. He could easily have slid into the 2028 GOP primary and taken the nomination. Nobody would’ve hated him, he’d have a massively successful Florida Governor record, and there’d be NO ONE worthwhile getting in his way in the primaries.

But now...he’ll look like a fool after Trump trounces him.

Ya all have your reasons.. think on this..
THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF DESTROYING OUR NATION.

They got by with a coup and got a senile old corrupt treasonous joe in as president. Republicans could not have done that.

I still am beyond puzzled on how a joe who isnt all there.. is accepted by the media and the not caring voters, to represent the United States of America. He is an embarrassment and makes us look weak

"According to the article, the one thing Trump cannot handle strategically is a person who simply takes his punches and responds by sitting back on the ropes and taking the blows, but not really engaging."

Sounds like every other GOP Presidential candidate that came before Trump. They were all gutless wonders. Sat in the corner like a scolded puppy with their tails between their legs, and never said a thing to defend themselves. It was the accepted behavior in the past. It won't be tolerated, nor is that behavior anything the majority of Republican voters find attractive in a candidate. Wishy-washy is out.

With the lead TRUMP has and the way he’s been misrepresented by the press, there’s a good chance there will be no debates.

If you’re going to compare Trump vs De Santis with Clay vs Foreman, I would argue that Trump is Clay and De Santis is Foreman. Like Clay, Trump is older, has more experience, and has been in a lot more fights.

“Don’t write off DeSantis – he’s been rope-a-doping Trump and is about to come out swinging”

i know, right? if/when ron announces, 500 million gazillion percent of Trump supporters will switch over to ron in just a few microseconds ... i know this, because the legion of pro-biden trolls at FR promoting ron tells us so ...

Trump doesnt care whether the volleys are returned. He throws bombs , if you dont respond he takes it as a win. When Ron responds he will welcomed by a Trump into the pissing match. Trump will crank it up. Will Ron be able to respond? Nah.

Why? Why would DeSantis enter the race, seems dumb. Our biggest problem as Republicans is that we don’t present a unified front. All he has to do is wait four years.
