What’s the Meatball reference to him supposed to mean. He isn’t Italian decent, is he.
He is of Italian descent. Don’t know if that’s the meaning behind the “meatball” nickname. It might be a reference to his portly appearance.
The name came from a news story that came out about a month or two ago, claiming that Trump had been testing out various nicknames for DeSantis. “Meatball” was one of the names mentioned in the story, with no explanation of what it was in reference to. People seemed to have liked it and its use spread quickly.
We don’t even know for sure if Trump really said it. The story might not even be legit, as far as we know. I don’t think Trump has ever used the term, publicly.
Meatball is a slur aimed at Italians.
