He works very hard. He was headed for prison or death during his high school years in Utah. Big risk taker and he had a fondness for bourbon. His dad is a functional alcoholic.
The best part of his life’s journey so far, he quit high school in Utah. Called his grandmother and asked if he could move into our house in Washington. Once here, he agreed to do what she said. Before long he took the GED course and got a high school diploma. Then a job turning wrenches which led to him working on a shipyard executive’s car which led to an apprenticeship offer.
Once in the door, it was like he found religion. The Department of Defense has been good for him. Apprenticeship, bachelor degree, electrical engineering masters degree and he rocketed up the shitpole to supervisor. Who knows where this will end up for him. A remarkable transformation in a little over a decade.
BTW-He has been able to come to terms with the alcohol, leaves it alone. Hereditary alcoholism is hard to overcome. Little bastard makes almost double of what I make.
