All of the bi”ching and childish name calling from both Trump and DeSantis supporters is not only non-productive, it’s damaging to the prospects for a Republican president to be elected in 2024. Based on the their behaviors, it seems like there are many conservatives that are determined (unintentionally) to have another DNC puppet presidency….
Trump was a great president - no doubt about it, but he made some very poor choices which resulted in self inflicted wounds and he (as we all did) got totally screwed by the left. Trump could become a great president again, even at his age, IF he could control his ego and pettiness. Obviously, the left is trying everything to destroy his candidacy again, if Trump doesn’t self-destruct.
DeSantis is a great governor and could become a great president if it were to happen. If Trump flames out or is somehow disallowed to run in 2024, we need to have a viable candidate. It appears at this point, that DeSantis is the only good option that could conceivably be elected. Whether pissed off Trump supporters will turn out or not will determine the future of our nation.
Sadly, at this point, even if DNC election fraud were not a factor, based on the immature in-fighting between Trump vs DeSantis supporters, egged on by Trump himself, our future appears rather bleak.

Exactly. Trump did such a great job at the CNN Town Hall. Why doesn't he stick to that kind of 'winning' instead of these constant pathetic attacks on Ron DeSantis??

DeSantis' PAC trashed Trump's CNN appearance the next day. Why don't you question Ron and his pathetic PAC?

I knew Calvin Coolidge. Calvin Coolidge was a friend of mine. Ron DeSantis is no Calvin Coolidge.

Seriously though, Calvin Coolidge was one of the greatest presidents ever.

The first shots were fired in October, when Joe O'Dae went on CNN and trashed Trump and his endorsed candidates. Several days later, DeSantis endorsed O'Dea.

That's when Trump started criticizing DeSantis.

Bingo!

Getting kicked off FR is all about one thing: If you dare oppose the Jim Rob approved candidate - you likely will get the zot.

I hate to break it to you, but Jim and I had a nice back and forth regarding DeSantis' true conservatism and his application of conservatism in Florida. We also discussed Trump taking tens of millions from Disney (DeSantis took about a million) and Trump defending them while DeSantis gave up future donations to protect children from groomers.

I am still here. So suck it up buttercups.

Coolidge wasn’t that different from most of the men who had been president in the 19th century. He looked colorless after Theodore Roosevelt (and perhaps Wilson, who had his own following), and he certainly looks colorless to us, but most of the 19th century presidents weren’t colorful or charismatic. But we have become used to presidents with bigger personalities and more charisma. Coolidge couldn’t be president today, and if DeSantis is like Coolidge (or like Gerald Ford) that could be a problem for him.

Maybe the comparisons are flawed, though. Coolidge, and Ford, and Millard Fillmore, and Chester Arthur all became president because of a president’s death or resignation. It’s typical for vice presidents to be bland and colorless. DeSantis has already shown himself to have more of a personality than Mike Pence or Tim Kaine or Walter Mondale or the typical vice presidential nominee.

I don’t know where trash-talking works, but it sure isn’t GA. Has Desantis dissed Trump about his 3 marriages or any other personal thing? If not, Trump is sabotaging himself.

A lot of people despise Trump because of his personality - a lot of independents in particular have refused to turn out on Election Day because of Trump's personality.

Trump is the last person on the planet who should be questioning anyone else's personality - and attacking the best chance we have for the White House in 2028 is beyond ridiculous, it's destructive to the conservative future. Trump will take office in 2024 as a lame-duck president if he is elected, and there will be life after his 2024 election run. He really needs to STFU about other conservatives - we will need them after Trump is a memory.

Where do ya get that? Trump has tens of millions of supporters who love him. His personality is great. The man is real. Not a phony career lawyer politician. The only outsider on the stage. Tells it like it is, and don't sugarcoat anything. straight forward, and upfront. And a great sense of humor. You'd have to dial back to the Founders to see this kind of relationship between the people and a leader.

Where the hell ya been?

It's great for a lot of people, and it also turns off a lot of other people who you'd expect to vote Republican. Trump is easily the most polarizing political figure of my lifetime. I'll vote for him again, but I know other people who normally would vote Republican won't turn out specifically because they can't stand his personality.
