The clock is about to begin ticking down on Ron DeSantis’ presidential announcement.
On Monday, the Florida governor’s political operation is set to move into its new base of operations, which will trigger disclosure requirements with federal officials.
The DeSantis political operation is currently housed in downtown Tallahassee, but staffers are set to make a short move to a new downtown location that will serve as a more official campaign home, according to a source familiar with the campaign’s plans, as well as another person knowledgeable about the move.
That move will require the not-yet-filed campaign to spend more than $5,000 and, under Federal Election Commission guidelines, when someone running for federal office spends more than $5,000, they are required to register, file financial reports and designate a principal campaign committee.
Functionally, the office move will require DeSantis to file paperwork with federal election officials within 15 days, thus acknowledging publicly for the first time that he is running for president.

And Trump lost the House in 2018, his re-election in 2020, the Senate in 2021, and his hand-picked candidates were clobbered in 2022.
Trust me. He needs to train. He needs to spar.
He has blocked our ability to see who he meets with and where he travels. He is not trustworthy.
Tucker Carlson has a bigger following them both of them 125 million in less than 20 minutes for all of his tweets Tucker Carlson is the candidate Trump can be vice president
Both men know what it feels like to be re-elected.
👍🤣👍
What could Trump possibly learn from Meatball?
Trump will teach the Meatball what hard core politics looks like.
Where is Jeb now.
Cruz barely got re-elected IN TEXAS.
NEITHER will EVER be President.
Run Ron Run.
He’s just waiting for Mitt, Jeb, the Lincoln Project, The Turtle, Paul Ryan, National Review and the rest of the GOPe to give him the green light to go.
Trump is running a General Election campaign, he’ll force DeSantis into unpopular positions to differentiate himself from the 45th President.
Positions that suburban women and independent voters hate.
**********************************************************
DeSantis is already running to the right of Trump so he doesn’t have to take any new positions just to differentiate himself from Trump. If he continues to address the issues, ignores Trump’s boorish statements and let’s Trump stew in his fear of a real challenger Trump will get increasingly derisive, which will just further alienate suburban women and independents.
Stop projecting. Trump will be the one that will move to unpopular positions to differentiate himself from DeSantis. His statement on Disney was just the start.
Jeb was re-elected. Cruz was re-elected. Trump was defeated.
Maybe he should ask either of these men for their pointers.
You left out George Conway. LOL.
MAGA vs the Anti-Trumpers and Never Trumpers.
They will use The Meatball and quickly discard him.
Elected to President?
Run Ron Run.
“By contrast, if he runs in 2024 and loses, he’s damaged goods and vulnerable to charges of “he couldn’t even beat Joe Biden” if he tries again in 2028.”
There is no downside for DeSantis to run this election like there wasn’t for Reagan to run in the 1976 primary. It gave Reagan national exposure and set the stage for his 1980 victory.
Even if Trump were to win the nomination and general election in 2024, he’d immediately become a lame duck upon assuming office. Republicans senators ignored Trump for the most part during his first term and they’ll certainly not pay any attention to him in his second using him only as a rubber stamp.
Thanks for adding him to my list. The Democrats aren’t afraid of DeSantis. They know he’s controlled opposition and he would be easy pickings for them in a general election.
There’s also the possibility that the Trump campaign implodes because of the legal issues he’s facing. DeSantis is clearly the strongest alternative to Trump and with him in the race, he would easily take over if that were to happen. It’s extremely unlikely that Pence or Nikki Haley could pick up the baton and go on to victory in the 2024 general election
And that support will be the same nevertrumpers that kept attacking him, and didn't vote for him, in 2016 and 2020.
Except, they'll deny they are nevertrumpers.
Instead, they will claim they are desantis supporters who think that desantis, who lies, jerk people around, is endorsed by many in the deep swamp GOPe, and already may have been talking to democrats and making deals with them, is the best person to be the next republican president.
I hate to break it to you but a I’ve heard during and since Covid is how awful that Ultra Conservative Fla Gov/State of Fla is because of how he handled Covid and kept things open abd infected the whole country. It was all his fault. Independents, Moderate Democrats despise RDS because of Covid (and abortion abd every other Conservative issue that has made National News), even more than they hated Trump. They hate the state of Fla.and Ron.
As I’ve said before, the fact that he ran for a 2nd term as Gov promising to work for rhe people in Fla for 4 years and immediately started campaigning for Pres., got Fla law changed so he could run doesn’t sit well with more and others. I’m not in Fla, but I feel scammed. Not a good look, hard to trust him now.
This is like watching a 2nd grade play. The grownups can fully see what the story line is well in advance but patiently wait for the child actor(RON) ro speak and act out the part. For an adult to act like this just shows he is acting as told by others and doesnt care about people just pleasing his master(s) so he will get applause (reward). I liked Ron initially but no longer
R. D. is not running for president. He will not even announce.
