Former President Donald Trump applauded the “sky high ratings” his town hall delivered for CNN, taking to social media Thursday night to proclaim “many minds were changed.”
He used his own Truth Social network to outline his pleasure at the result and the three million-plus viewers who tuned in.
“People are criticizing CNN for giving me a Forum to tell the TRUTH. I believe it was a very smart thing that they did, with Sky High Ratings that they haven’t seen in a very long time,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “It was by far the biggest Show of the night, the week, and the month!”

More importantly, many liberal heads exploded. A beautiful thing.
Don't know about many, given CNN's viewing numbers, but I'll bet there were viewers who saw the real person instead of the filtered caricature. It was probably better than Fox and Chris Wallace batting for the other team while pretending to be fair.
You can bet CNN won't make that mistake again, and the same for MSNBC or the three broadcast networks for that matter.
Why do you think the Democrats don't want primary debates? Because RFK jr will show Biden to be incompetent. Also, while RFK may be coming from a different POV, he is blasting aspects of the official "narrative" from DC, both from "Democrats" and "Republicans".
“I thought the people asking questions were very respectful toward President Trump.”
Ordinary people aren’t paid to be disrespectful. Trump and most leaders will be respectful to a citizen questioner.
Hopefully Trump will do more events where he takes questions from the audience.
everyone in the audience seemed to be behind president trump even thought they were labeled as undecided voters...
even the host was thinking about asking donald for a job after the townhall.
His ratings were good. But not as high as his previous town hall or any of his debates. But a win is a win. The audience were Trump supporters which helped the evening. No naysayers to disrupt.
CNN’s minds were changed.
They allowed Trump to have his say and prove that his mind is well and up to the task of being president. That’s unlike their preferred presidential candidate, who fears press conferences and interviews and debates and can’t even put a sentence together.
IOW, they allowed ‘their enemy’ to have a win, while their friend ends up the loser. Regrets all around CNN offices.
the town hall got about 6 times as many as CNN usually gets in that time slot, about 3.5 MILLION, and I’ll bet millions more watched it online, and even millions more saw clips online.
The fact that Trump got to get at least some of his message out to several million people is a good thing. Then there is the total ass that the “moderator” made of herself is a big plus. The almost continuous whining and crying done by CNN and others is also great.
So, it was a win-win-win situation.

You will hear Meatball fas saying Trump can’t reach Independents and women.
That’s utter nonsense.
I think it is kind of early in the POTUS process. Most people did not even know it was on TV based on what I see/heard in my office. I am in NH. It happened 10 miles north of here. Most people had no idea Trumps was in town and the town hall even happened until the following day.
However, clips of it are now on YouTube. Which is where most young people get their information along with Twitter.
Over 3 million watched.
Many were undoubtedly demoncrats hoping to see Trump lampooned, but their delight turned to shrieks.
And the number who watched live is dwarfed by the number who watched video onine.
While I’d vote for Trump over Biden I do not think the CNN “townhall” with Trumo changed anyone’s minds about Trump. I think most Trump supporters and most Trump haters did not shift their views at all. I think moderates and independents didn’t change their views either. They may vote for Trump or for Biden but they in patticular would prefer neither Trump nor Biden were running. Why? They - moderates and independents are alone or together a minority and the majority either hate Trump or like Trump enough to vote for him. The moderates and independents don’t have a candidate and are pused and pulled by the majority split between Left and Right.
But, a warning to the GOP: in some states it may be the moderates and independents that might swing the state one direction or another in 2024. And, it will only take a handful of states to get an electoral college majority. Most states are already easily predicted to fall into the GOP or Dim camp, leaving just a few “battleground states” that will make the winning difference. The GOP has to acknowledge the race will be won by the electoral college vote even if that win looses a majority of the popular vote.
Other than flipping through the channels for a couple of seconds, that was the first time in over 10 years that I actually watched CNN. The hour spent confirmed to me that their idea of a “moderator” was in reality only there to argue the MSM opinions. The studio audience was respectful of a former President as they should have been, but I was surprised that CNN failed to have “planted” questions to try and foil President Trump. The entire exercise was to direct the discussions about the past, rather than the future. I turned off the after-show in about two minutes since the panelists knew in advance how they were going to criticize him.
As if voting matters anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I am going to vote for President Trump, but if we don’t get to the bottom of the voting fraud nothing will change. The only thing that mattered last election was how many ballots they could stuff in the mail boxes.
What was the makeup of the audience? From what I’ve heard, they were pro-Trump, but I can’t imagine CNN packing the show with Trump supporters.
“ While I’d vote for Trump over Biden…”
Wha?
You say that as if it is an actual decision you’d have to think about.
I had to watch a re-run of the town hall because it never occurred to me CNN would choose an honest audience.
I assumed they would stack the deck - fill the room with Never Trumpers like George Conway and that fool David Jolly... etc.
No. I’d vote for Trump over Biden in a heartbeat with no hesitation.
Hpwever, I do not pretend that it is impossible for some real Comservative in the GOP to best Trump on some issues. Is such a person running? Not that I am aware of, yet.
Many mistake why we voted for Trump. Because he’s Trump? No. We voted for Trump because he voiced some of the positions we in the grass roots of the GOP wanted to hear our candidates support. We made the opening in the GOP for a candidate more in tune with us. That position (vacancy) was created by us in the GOP grass roots, not Trump. He filled it in many ways even if not perfectly.
Is it possible for someone to better in agreement with us - the GOP Conservative grass roots - than Trump. Possible, yes. Not evident who it could be at this time.
