By giving Trump this opportunity it is clear that CNN wants Trump to be the 2024 GOP nominee. I have no idea why else they would have done it. If Republican voters loved Trump’s performance, then their plan worked to perfection. Based on this thread their plan did work to perfection.

I wonder about CNN’s strategy. They would have reasoned that a good performance by Trump would also bolster his chances against a Democrat opponent.
Maybe CNN just wants to enlarge its audience into independent and conservative territory and capture some of the disillusioned Fox audience.
