They lost 95% of Bakhmut. They didn't just give that up. They fought hard trying to keep every inch of ground. That was a fortified city that was not easy to take. They also gave up most ground to the Dinipro river. That was all defended ground. Ukraine hasn't taken any significant land in months. I don't think it's because they don't want to. What makes you think Ukraine is winning the war right now? Maybe I'm seeing something different.

Russia has been fighting for Bakhmut for over a year and hasn’t gained significant ground in close to a year despite launching numerous offenses.
